Here is my response to this weekend's engagement topic feel to check the link above and join in the fun.
Nickname given or received
Do you have a nickname or pet name given to you by someone else? What is it and why were you given it? Or, have you given someone else a nickname that stuck What is it and how did they earn it?
My dad was found of giving us nicknames, he only had to look at us, gave us the name and it sticks.
While I was little I was told to be very fat. They said I couldn't walk from our house to the next house without falling and breaking my lips.
My knees were practically robbing each other. Hence my dad gave me the nickname Babambaba in his word, it means fat.
But he was the only one authorized to call me that. I loved it when he referred to me like that. Any other person I will find it offensive and have to report him/her to my dad. And of course, he will say "I'm the only one who can call her that" lol.
I do allow some of my close Auntie and uncles to call me that as well. If I'm fond of you, you won't have problems calling me Babambaba.
The nickname faded away as I grew from age two and above, I started to grow very slim and tall so gradually they stopped calling the name.
Until now one of my Aunty do ask me where are all those fat. How will I know? hehe. I love me being slim this way I can't imagine myself being fat the way they use to describe me from the age of one to three.
My two younger brothers were given a nickname as well, my immediate younger one is called Hogan. Derived from the name of a professional wrestler and television personality. Hulk Hogan my dad happens to be his die-hard fan and my brother is tall and kind of has a similar body structure as him. Unlike me, he has grown with the name.
Our last born was nicknamed Arubebe in my language it referred to a short wood. This was not given to him by my dad. An elderly man in my neighborhood gave him the name.
When he was born he was very short and Chubby, we all do call him that name until he started to grow tall and eventually outgrown the name before he reach the age of three. And gradually we start to forget to call him that.
Me in the middle, My immediate younger brother by my right and our last born by my left-hand side.
Thank you very much for your time, attention and support do have a nice weekend🥰❤🥂 Cheers!
