To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge.

I read a lot; books. I'm good at it as I'm able to read very quickly, take the information in easily and my mind is quick enough to create the images even as it processes the next piece of information coming in; the human brain really is amazing. When I read it's a physical book as I like the feel of it in my hands and reading on a device seems a little soulless to me, although I've had to do it at times and for various reasons I guess. I'm not one of those people who listens to books either, in fact, I'd rather read on a device than do that.
Most often, I can be found reading and there's few places I go in which I don't have a book along with me, even at work; I may not get to read, but it's there just in case. I'm a slut for information and knowledge and reading is where I get it from generally, and experience also of course.
Having said all that, there's another form of information which is similar to audio books, but way different, I mean the podcast and I spend a lot of time listening to them when I'm doing other things, this is especially so on the weekends.
We all know what a podcast is so I'll not go into it other than to say I think it's a totally legitimate way to get information, learn new things a stay in-touch with whatever it is people are interested in. Yes, there's a lot of rubbish there, but it's easy to avoid, I guess a little like muting a Hive user, one doesn't need to see things they're not interested in.
I've actually been on a shooting podcast quite a few times and enjoyed the experience, although never heard the episodes back as I hate the sound of my own voice. It was fun though, talking about long range shooting and various other things I've done, it was fairly widely listened to also, not that makes much difference to me. No, I'm not telling you which one it was, so don't bother asking.
I get a lot of the podcasts I listen to through referral from friends; they know what I'm into, as I do them, and so most of the podcasts suggested to me are ones I've really liked; a few duds came by, but they're easily dealt with as I said above.
A few I listen to are: Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, Anglo Saxon England Podcast, F1: Beyond the Grid, The Fall of the Roman Empire, Viking Age Podcast, Australian Military History, Stories of Special Forces Operators, History of The Great War and The History of WWII among several others.
One of my most favourite podcasts though, is Jocko Podcast hosted by ex-Navy SEAL Jock Willink and his buddy Echo Charles.
The podcast isn't just about war, and certainly doesn't glorify it. In fact, those who have been there are the first to say other ways should be found to settle differences because they know what war truly is. It doesn't mean they're not ready to go though...anyway, that's a different post.
The podcast isn't about the man either, although he talks about some of his experiences and what he learned. His guests are often military folks, and the books he reads from and delves into are also war-related...but this chap is a leader, in fact, post-service owns an incredibly successful corporate leadership company called Echelon Front together with some other military people.
I'll not lie, it can be brutal, the podcast I mean, but there's always lessons, valuable lessons. One such episode was on the, Bataan Death March of World War Two. The episode on Viktor E. Frankl's book, Man's search for meaning was also one of my favourites, but brutal on the emotions. There are many, many great episodes, all of them really.
I don't want to make this post into an advertisement for Jocko Podcast, but for me it's one of the most valuable podcasts I've ever come across as it delivers insight and balance, along with many messages revolving around discipline, ownership, hard work, honour, integrity and selflessness, all things I value.
What I thought would be cool is to learn what podcasts others around the blockchain listen to so that's what I'm asking you to do below, share a podcast that you listen, or have listened to, and tell us a little about it. There's no right or wrong answer here of course, but it could help me, or others, to find something interesting.
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default; tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind - galenkp
