My wife and I went out for a walk along the river after dinner tonight. We'd really over done it on takeaway food because it was Friday, and I felt it really necessary to burn some calories !
We took a walk along a river path near the house which is really nice because its away from all the city traffic.
Its normally a bit busier, but was quite quiet tonight - dont know why because it was a nice evening.
We past this beautiful willow tree which is at the bottom of someones garden.
Above is the same garden, and its really hard to see, but just up and to the left of the Pampas grass is a deer - it looks like a bit of a brown smudge, as its well camouflaged.
I tired to zoom in, bit only had my phone camera, so its not great - you can make it out a bit more - but it was still well hidden. We were quite surprised because we have never seen a deer in the city before. We get lots of foxes, but never any deer !
The footbridge was reflecting in the water nicely.
And I always do admire the old railway bridge that runs over the river - its a footpath now, as the railway line was decommissioned in the 1960s.
Well we enjoyed the walk, and actifit reckons we did around 2,000 steps on it - but I dont think that shifted much of our takeaway - still feeling like a bloater !
We also saw a heck of a lot of magpies when we were out. In the pic above there was about 12 of them together over the grassy area (black and white birds, but they dont show up well in the pic). I dont think I've ever seen that many together. There used to be some kind of a nursery rhyme about what would happen if you saw so many magpies together. I dont know if it went as high as 12, but it would be something pretty impressive - a lottery win maybe !
I took the final pic below just outside our apartment when we got back. This set of daffodils were looking fantastic with the cherry blossom in the background !
Have a great weekend everyone !
