Greetings friends, welcome to my blog. I am encouraged to participate in this Weekend-Engagement writing topics: WEEK 161, in which brings us several alternatives, I chose the following option:
Confident and arrogant
These two words mean totally different things. Have you had experiences with people who are one or the other, or both? Discuss and explain in 300+ words and use photos you took yourself where you can.
Certainly, being confident and being arrogant have totally different meanings. In the first definition, people are usually very gullible, while in the second, it is about feeling superior to others. I have had experience with both cases, however, I will expose the experience with a person who is very confident and is not finished learning.
Being confident
For some time I have known a person who is very trusting, and as a result, several negative experiences have happened to him. What I notice in this person is that when he goes through a bad situation for trusting so much, he takes precautions for a few days and then he goes back to the same thing. This person does not learn, things happen to him and soon after he repeats the same behavior. As I have been somewhat close to him, we have talked about it and I have even given him some recommendations, however, this person does not listen, it is part of his nature and only he can change it.
From his experiences I have learned that he lends money and does not get paid, however, after getting upset, the same person who defrauded him asks him again to borrow money after some time has passed and he agrees again. He has been mugged several times and always falls back into the same behavior of not being careful. A few months ago he bought a low end Smartphone for as little as $10, he saw it so cheap he didn't hesitate, however, the phone never worked.
Last I heard, he intended to buy some used items from some street vendors hanging around the housing development where he lives, not knowing where those items came from and what condition they were in, obviously they have no warranty, but just being able to acquire them at low cost was enough for him, he could be throwing his money away, again.
"Trust is hard to build, but it is very easy to destroy"
In allusion to this phrase, I cannot understand the behavior of such gullible people. One cannot be so trusting because we run the risk of living again and again great disappointments and being abused. This is not to be confused with generosity, trusting people who do not put a stop, become the perfect target for betrayal, deceit and abuse. They are doomed to suffer and repeat the same mistakes, the idea is to be cautious, not to fall into the extreme fear of not trusting people again, but above all, to learn from adverse situations in order to evolve as people.
