Greetings dear friends, another weekend has arrived and as always I do not fail to stop by the community led by and explore the topics for writing engagement. In Weekend-Engagement writing topics: WEEK 162, there are several alternatives and I have decided to choose for this week the following option:
One of the best
What is one of the best things that happened on your trip to another county. This has to be a trip you have personally taken and your post must use photos you took yourself on that trip. Your post must be at least 300 words.
Travel.... Just hearing the word fills me with emotion, when I was a child I always did it with my parents and brother, usually my grandmother accompanied us, of those trips I have great and beautiful memories, also many photographs. I hope that the images of those endearing trips are not lost in our minds, but that when we see the photos we live again and bring back many smiles. We always made the trips during school vacations and usually within my country, Venezuela. Maybe I dreamed of going on a trip abroad someday and that wish crystallized, and it was more than once, what a privilege.
"Vacations without travel, are not vacations", has always been my motto, what's the point of working so much and not being able to enjoy the honey of the days off and the monetary rewards. As an adult, in my vacations, which were no longer during school periods, I did not miss trips. In 2008 I started a new job and suddenly I found myself planning my vacations, the first I would enjoy in this company where I still work today. My father had a contract with a Resort and we had the option to choose any destination for a week, it could be inside or outside the country, I chose to go abroad. They offered me a very economical alternative in Adeje, Tenerife, and I did not think about it, we went there.
That trip was very special for me because it was the first time I left my country, Venezuela, besides, the island is beautiful, I visited the largest water park in Europe, Siam Park, and many other incredible places. The truth is that traveling consists of exploring new lands, going on comforting walks, tasting the typical gastronomy of the place, getting to know its culture, its people, shopping and bringing back some souvenirs for souvenirs. In short, it is an itinerary that does not change, what changes are the scenery, the people, the language, etc. Besides highlighting the wonders of the place, that unforgettable trip was very special for me because I managed to bring not only some gifts and experience great emotions, but also a computer, a tool that I needed at that time and that was impossible to afford in my own country, how ironic.
In 2009, it was possible to travel abroad thanks to a system of preferential dollars granted by the government, which we no longer have for several years. Those were other more benevolent times in the economic sphere and it was easy for me to afford the airfare and lodging. I longed to buy a laptop, but I barely earned 900,000 VES, our local currency, and the cost of a computer was around 7,000,000 VES, it was impossible for me to afford it. The telephone company CANTV, at that time, financed payments by installments, another option, but they were very high, I think they were at least 1.500.000 VES, each one, but they were still unreachable for me. In spite of all that, I did not lose hope of buying a computer.
When I went to Tenerife, Spain, the idea was to enjoy the trip to the fullest, I did not think about anything else. However, opportunities come when we least expect it and whenever we came back from walking we would go downtown to look at stores, it was there that I realized that electronic devices were very affordable compared to the prices here in Venezuela. Then, the idea crossed my mind that maybe it was possible that I could finally buy the laptop I was longing for. When I began to inquire with the merchants about the prices, I realized that I was very close to fulfill my dream. I was recommended to go to the capital, Santa Cruz, and so I did, I bought a Compaq Presario laptop for 1.450.000 VES, about 450$.
The best thing that happened to me on that trip was to bring back a good quality laptop, a work tool that today I use to publish in Hive and that has given me great satisfaction on a personal and work level. If I had not traveled, perhaps I would not have been able to buy it, the country's situation over the years has become increasingly precarious and the purchasing power is increasingly reduced. Dreams come true, let's never stop dreaming, but without falling asleep in order to fulfill them thanks to the opportunities that come our way in life.
