How excited I am for today's event! I woke up early to help my sister prepare the food we will bring to our trip.
Before anything else, coffee is life for Filipinos, so let's sip coffee pep. Sitting in the swing, holding a cup of coffee is certainly a great way to start your day.
Bam-e or noodles or locally known as "pansit" rich with different vegetables and meat will be our viand plus rice equals amazing lunch.
The kids are very excited about our trip, so they already took their breakfast so they can help us pack our lunch.
They helped their aunt pack our lunch or so we called "bacon" so that we will not have to spend money to buy food at the venue and we will not struggle to find for a store to buy something to eat. Bringing food is our practical way to save from spending much whenever we travel places, do things, or watch events like motocross.
We are all set and ready to go!
Our journey takes us 30 to 35 minutes travel time from our residence. We have to pass the City of Bogo and take a right turn going to the Municipality of Medellin, Cebu. We will be watching a motocross event in Barangay Panugnawan, Medellin, Cebu situated in the northernmost part of Cebu.
As we enter the Municipality of Medellin, my eyes were captured by this scenic view of the sugarcane plantation and its long wide range of the road, the very known Aisle of Medellin.
You will never get lost because the organizers make sure to put up signage so people who want to watch the said event will surely reach the venue. There are marshalls also who are willing to guide tourists and enthusiasts who wanted to reach the place of the event.
As we are approaching the venue, we can already hear the cheer of the audience and the loud bluster of the exhaust of motorbikes. I and the kids are getting excited as we are getting near as we are all motocross enthusiasts.
The venue
The racetrack was made by Mr. Jonathan Cuyos (a motocross champion) in partnership with Motor Ace Racing Philippines. It was specially created for the said motocross competition and tagged as Jonathan Cuyos Motocross Park. They made lots of obstacles and bumps to make it even harder for the riders as they jump high into the air. It also has a big parking space and tents for the display of what they are selling.
The event
The event is the 2nd leg of the 2023 Motor Ace Motocross Series held at Barangay Panugnawan, Medellin, Cebu which was participated by top riders from all over the country and aspiring riders who want to make a name in the motocross industry. It's a race between riders and showcases their abilities to ride and entertain the audience as well. They have to finish the laps needed according to the category they are enlisted to. Whoever makes it to the finish line and surpasses his or her competitor will be announced as the winner and get an award.
Not just an ordinary competition, but a heart-pounding one. As the riders ignited their engines, the audience was already cheering as they expected a high-flying Enduro motorcycle. As the riders are approaching a bump where it made them fly into the air the audience is shouting together as if they were also flying and at the same time worried about where the riders will land.
This event was also a promotion for the latest kind of motorcycles, motorbikes, and enduro motors that was newly out in the market from different manufacturers like Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, TVS, and Suzuki. They will cater to customers who wanted to purchase motorcycles that was displayed in different stalls. They also have products for riders like riding suits, t-shirts, and jerseys.
The audience, especially the kids never mind the heat of the sun as long as they could watch the event and see how riders jump high in the air together with their motors. They feel like they are also riding, under the heat and feel the fast beat of their heart as they full the throttle, ride faster to lead the others, and let them eat the dust. As the dust also flies into the air and surrounds the audience even making them excited and feel the thrill of the race.
The categories:
Expert Open, Intermediate Open, Novice Open, Beginners Open, Executive 40-44, Executive 45-49, Executive 50+, Veterans Class, Elite Class, Open Enduro, Ladies Open, 85 cc, 65 cc, 50 cc, 125 Enduro, Underbone Open.
The event was participated by the country's pride and award-winning, well-known when we talked about motocross sports, and came from Mindanao, the one and only Bornok Mangosong, King of Philippine Motocross - Philippine National MX Champion. It is our once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and greet our idol in motocross sports.
We even took a picture with him. The kids idolized him so much (you can see the genuine smiles on their faces). They watch every video posted about his race.
There also is Janelle Saulog, hailed as the "Queen" of Philippine Motocross. She has won so many awards and competed in different places.
Another famous personality when it comes to the motocross world is Pia Gabriel. She was so young and started to make a name in the motocross industry and titled the Philippine Motocross Princess.
We got the chance to meet these amazing and approachable personalities in just a day. We are only watching them on youtube videos and now we can fulfill our long desire to meet them in person. A bonus for us all, never in a second crossed our minds that we may bump into them one day.
And the winner is...... The kids!! They were able to experience this kind of show. It shows on their faces the tired yet fulfilling day.
It's a wrap for us. We spent the weekend with a thrilling and heart-pounding experience. As a result, one kid is down and slept on our way home.
That is all for our weekend experience. Hope you enjoy reading and join me on my next trip. God bless us all.
