Kia Ora Hivers and fellow members of this vibrant community, THE WEEKEND. I hope you are all feeling fabulous :)
I was reading my friend's (coquicoin) weekend experience she'd rather forget and it brought me back to one of my own memories of the past which I would love to re-live for the second time around. Please allow me to share the story.
Some years ago, I was working offshore, specifically in the City of Guangzhou China and I was able to bring my husband (the farm boy) with me. Our weekends were always fun because we spent them going around the city or to its neighboring places like Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
One particular weekend that I will never forget was a day spent in one of the city's attractions called Tianhe Park which is very vast with many beautiful landscapes, ponds, clean picturesque grounds, lakes, pagodas, and others.
And given the size of the place, one would not be bumping elbows with many people.
It was spring and we were glad that it didn't rain that day. We had a blast roaming around, stopping by for food, and then going on again. One would observe how relaxed people were.
We liked the park because they were able to maintain the natural aura of the environment. It felt like it was not man-made at all. There were lots of greens and trees which helped control the heat during the hot days and the presence of lakes and ponds adds up to the allure of the place.
We had time to check and feed the Koi fishes too!
After which, we spent some time boating on the lovely lake. We were glad that there weren't many boats so there was plenty of space and we even got a 360-degree view of the lake too.
The park has its own ecosystem so to speak.
When we felt it was time to get off the boat, we roamed around a bit and found a haven under the trees and a lone boat. This was where the most memorable and magical things happened.
Such an environment is inviting and it gives an incredible feeling of openness and honesty. And the above spot was where the farm boy and I started to weave and strengthen our dreams and goals as a couple. We just sat there under those two trees and shared our hearts and souls, with that boat and the trees as our witnesses, lol!
Although we had already been married at that time, we never really talked about our fears, how many kids we would have, where we wanted to retire to, which countries we would tour, and so on. It was only when we were on that spot in the park that we let them all out.
Reminiscing that moment now made me smile with pride that although we have not been able to cross out all the goals, dreams, and promises we made on that lovely day, we are still here, happily spending our lives together, making new dreams and aspirations despite the trials we have had been through.
We enjoyed that day and it was late evening when we decided to leave.
So yes, those are the reasons why I want to experience that weekend all over again, to re-live the excitement and bliss we felt on that specific day and time.
We were so happy when we received an invite to the city during the winter of 2019, but because we didn't want to go during the coldest season, we postponed it for the spring, unfortunately, the pandemic came and we are now waiting for the right time to step on that beautiful city again.
Thank you for indulging me today and I wish you all a wonderful new week!
