Hello, friends! I didn't want to miss this weekend engagement. A lot of work has taken all my time and I end most of the nights very tired. However, here I am to share what I think about this wise quote.
"Such as are your habitual thoughts, such also will be the character of your mind; for the soul is dyed by the thoughts."
—Marcus Aurelius.
I grew up with the idea that to be great you have to think big. That's how I found myself in school getting good grades, and the same in high school. I told myself that if I studied hard I could get my place in college, and I did.
Now, my thoughts have always been those of a person who likes to learn, read and in this way understand the world and its surroundings. It could be said that my character remains the same, although as this extraordinary quote says, the usual negative thoughts often make my own character a part of my self-sabotage.
And it is now that I understood that for my actions to be positive and full of life, my thoughts must have the same dye, there must be strength so that the mind is nourished and can achieve what is required.
To give you an example of what I am saying, I will tell you part of this new stage. I always thought I could never use a sewing machine, I was terrified because I thought I could damage it and since it was clearly not something I did, I did not conceive the idea of working with such a device. But everything can change, everything gets better when you make those thoughts of uselessness disappear and give way to productivity, and that's where this new stage comes in. I decided to take my #Hive savings and invest with my sister in the clothing business. She is the seamstress, but she has taught me and now I help her sew. Motivation has kept me away from these thoughts of sabotage and now I have taken up something I had no knowledge of.
So now my usual thoughts boil down to “What shall we do today?” “We should make t-shirts.” “Teach me how to hem.” In this way I nurture my mind and gain new skills.
