I've been to Boracay last December 2018 for a Christmas and New Year holiday trip. It was a bit different back then since it was newly open after a six months rehabilitation. You couldn't enter the island. Without any proof of booking hotels and if your hotel is on the list for them too. It was a fun holiday with friends from abroad and we are very happy that we can show them the famous and one of the best beaches in the country.
So today's blog, let me share with you our weekend getaway to Boracay. It was not planned at all. My partner told me to look for a catsitter for the weekend since he booked a flight to Boracay. I was shocked as it was just random. It's hard to have a trip when you have pets. As I always plan and call close friends if they knew someone that can stay with our cats. We used to dome help from the building housekeeper to look after the cats but since we move to a new home. We don't know everyone yet. And my family lives in Mindanao and it's just hard sometimes when you have an emergency trip. Luckily, I have friends around who are willing to help us with catsitting. Which I'm always beyond grateful. Always š
It's my first flight during a pandemic. And yeah, it's exciting. I mostly go by boat when I visit home in Mindanao. So, this trip is a bit different. The feeling of flying is different.
We are lucky enough to get a seat during the weekend as the island has a festival called Love Boracay. The flight was full and mostly local tourists from Cebu.
And yes it's good to be back! Our hotel arranged our pick up, boats and transfer to the island. So, we don't have to queue as the coordinators from the hotel and their affiliate business partner accommodate us during our arrival. It's just very quick. Compared with our last visit 4 years ago!
It's fewer people during the early morning until around lunch. as it's very hot. Some people wouldn't mind. And I don't mind too. š This is what you came for! ššŗ
Visiting Boracay wouldn't be complete with a taste of their Mango shake. š
There are a lot of changes on the island. It's very well organized now compared it before. The government did a great job of keeping the island clean as the tourist flocks during high peak season.
These views never get old. Powdered sand, turquoise water and blue sky. And a beer in your hand will be perfect as you embrace and watch the waves. So lucky, to call the Philippines my home.
We have been walking around Station 1 to Station 3 in between and had meals in a few different restaurants. We stayed at Station 1 which has fewer people in the area compared to stations 2 and 3.
And got this Boracay mug from Starbucks as it looks so cute. š» Buying an island souvenir and I'm sure it will be very useful. ā
Boracay has two-faced during the day. As I mentioned earlier that it has less crowd around the morning up to lunch. But, it has different vibes when the afternoon comes. As everyone flocks to the beach and waited for the sunset.
And this how Boracay Island looks like in reality. Especially when you stay in stations 2 and 3.
Yes, there's still these green seagrass around during low tide. But, people don't mind at all. Everybody seems very happy and enjoying their visit to the island. Especially the kids.
The most awaited time of the day. The sunset. Aside from the long white beach Island. Boracay is very famous for its sunset. And we are so lucky to have good weather and have a glimpse of it.
It was a very quick trip but it was one of the great weekends so far!
Until the next weekend trip getaway. āØ
