Once a boy scout, always a boy scout!
The Department of Education has released a memo about this activity. Students were excited to join and one of those is my 5-year-old son. A 3-day camping that once a year happens. This is the first backyard camping during the re-opening of classes. Everybody was excited including the scouters to letting their scouts learn different life hacks.
My son is categorized as kid scout. His teacher let them memorize all those scout laws, motto, and kid scout songs but none of them he memorized, I just let him familiarize himself. Though he can't absorb them in his mind, still able to have some fun and savor the moment together with his classmates.
Welcome to Camp Rica
Since Ma'am Rica is the name of our school head, so is the yard we are in. The venue is good since it has spacious ground and can cater to more scouts.
Friday afternoon, the scouts brought some materials to build their tents. It is one of the checklists to be followed. In every troop, there are teachers assigned to teach everything and look after the scouts aside from their mothers (most likely for kid scouts and cab scouts).
This is the tent where my son belongs. The "Putian troop". Since our little ones cannot build with their young bones, we, as parents, help to complete this.
One of the scouters blew the whistle as a sign that they have to begin an activity in the morning which is the "flag raising". Everybody went right in front of the pole and made a straight line together with their scouter/teacher.
The assigned students were able to do their tasks like bringing the flag to raise, each troop there is a representative to command and speak their scout laws, oath, and motto. In this regard, scouts were not using the usual putting our hand to chest however by using the scout sign (using the three middle fingers with the thumb and pinky fingers fold and salute like a military).
After the flag ceremony, the scouters went to the room for a meeting. There's a special topic they need to tackle. While in a meeting, some scouts were practicing their drills and scout songs.
Scouters with their scouts. From left, my son is in fourth with unique shoes from his classmates😂. Honestly, I never spent any centavo from his attire because his brown shorts, cap, and neckerchief are from Ate Lora. The shirt is from Ma'am Jen. They were once used by their sons but not abused. Thanks to them, my penny was saved.
Scout Games
After the scouters' deliberation, they called the scouts to gather together in the school's mini gymnasium. In there, they had some games. I don't exactly know those games, it was new for me. I guess those games were intended for scouting. I didn't mind the game but with his participation, he's having so much fun and I can see that he's doing good with his teammates. They look so cute😍.
Camp Fire
Scouting will not be complete without this campfire burning. It burns dry wood to create a good fire. This only means deepening and strengthening the bond with the campers and everyone around them. Around the campfire, are the campers singing songs of scouting. Every troop has leaders to command. It is a perfect fire since the sky is gloomy that brings rain. Also, Ma'am Rica announced that our kids will not come back today due to bad weather, only the boys and senior scouts will.
It is the time of breaking the chain in which campers hold hand in hand by crossing their arms holding another scout then turning around and everybody is facing the outside already.
A pictorial together with kid scouts and scouters from Dilawan and Putian.
And this ends with a boddle fight! They have been so starving after an exhausting activity. They deserved this prepared food by us.
That's all for today Hivers! How's your encampment in school? I'm sure you have one. Have a great weekend!
