'Just 1 hour of floating in this magnesium and salt bath will give you the same amount of rest as if you had been sleeping 5 hours. Just give it a try'
That is what the flyer said that my friend gave me. I was taking a look and didn't really know what to think about it. I have heard a lot more people talking about this whole gig. Taking in more magnesium through the skin while floating in versus taking it in from a supplement which you eat. Magnesium...the big friend when having soar muscles after a workout, because it helps with the 'transaction of energy' and it helps with feelings of fatigue.
Honestly, I don't have any of these kinds of complaints at all. But hey....floating in a bath of warm water I would do that any random day!

So the deal with floating ( yes that is actually how you call it here in Holland) is that you are in bodywarm temperature water and bodywater temperature air which is filled with salt and magnesium, which makes you float on it. Think dead-sea style.
Add some nice music in there which eventually fades out into silence, and a starlight sort of lighting which eventually also fades a bit.
Soooo....how was it?
Well, honestly...This was kind of cool! Walking into this small little cabin with sort of a bath tub inside filled with only like a foot-deep of water. The tub is way wider though which gives you a chance to float around on the water.
Because truly, you really do float in this damn water! So there is an option that you can use ear plugs to prevent the salt water from getting into your ear, and you can also use a floating pillow to supprt your head if you want.
So you lay yourself down in the water and you just start to float. The whole idea is that because the water and the air is also body temperature, is that you loose your sense of space in there. And honestly...you do!
At some point I was floating around and thinking that I had floated to the edge for a bit, and I was trying to push away from the wall for a bit, but there was no wall, it was just the thinking of my brain that had made that wall there. And there is no bottom underneith you, just water. I guess this also must feel really good if you have soar joints, and here they have a chance to relax for a bit because there is no pressure on there.
And yes, because you are in a nice and warm room, and you have your ears underwater you really can hear (or feel, I'm not sure) the resonance of your heartbeat in there. which makes everything totally calm.
So did I fall asleep then while floating? I am not sure actually, so that already makes me say that most likely I did hahah. An hour of this is actually not that long and it really gives you a good moment to let the mind drift away.
Do I feel filled with magnesium now? Not at all, I feel nothing weird or better in any muscle going on. And most important of all:
1 hour of floating gives you the feeling of 5 hours of sleep??
On the contrary, I wanted 5 hours of sleep afterwards hahah. But that doesn't matter, this was a really chill experience regardless of any physical benefit in there.
