Happy Weekend Everyone!
This morning, we went to the cemetery to light incense for our ancestors and burn some paper money. This is usually done during All Saints' Day, but we wanted to avoid the crowds that typically gather at the cemetery. So we decided to do it on Saturday morning. This is also like a mini family reunion for us. Everyone in our family gathers to pay respect to our ancestors.
This is the Chinese cemetery.
this is our ancestrals resting place.
This is my sister, lighting the incense and paying respect to our ancestors. I asked her to be the model in my blog. haha
This is the burning of joss paper or Chinese paper money. it has two kinds, silver and gold. we only burned silver this time. it has been our tradition to burn paper money every all saints day. burning paper money is also kind of an offering to our ancestors. it is believed that by burning this paper money it ensures that the spirit of our ancestors has sufficient money in the afterlife.
In the Philippines, there's a tradition called 'pagpag.' After visiting wakes or cemeteries, it involves making a short stop somewhere before heading home. This tradition is based on the belief that the spirit of the deceased may follow the visitors to their respective homes.
So, we did make a short stop at a Korean surplus store. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo. We were busy browsing their wide range of products, including plates, bowls, furniture, and workout equipment. It was quite enjoyable to scan and explore their items, and you could purchase them at bargain price.
thanks for reading! :)
