The weekend is my favorite days of the week because it simply means HOLIDAY! I can stay in my bed as long as I want, and no one would bother me. Yet, not this time. I woke up early as I will be traveling to my husband's hometown, which is supposed to be two hours away from where I stay, but due to traffic, it may take up to five hours. Not to mention standing in line waiting for the bus to arrive at the terminal.
I left the dorm before the clock struck at six o'clock and felt relieved upon seeing there was no queue of passengers. It was the opposite; it was the bus waiting.
Not only that there was no road congestion so I arrived early at home earlier than I expected. I was thankful as my brother-in-law, and I was scheduled to visit the nearest hardware in our place. I need to purchase paints and other materials required to paint our house. A friend of his volunteered to drive us as we needed a car, which is why I was so in a hurry to go home. I mean, I can't let his friend wait. Right?
We chose to go to Maquiling Builders Depot as it was just half an hour away.
When a brother-in-law gave me the list of what to buy, I was completely clueless! I am not familiar aside from the paint, so I asked for assistance from the staff. Glad they are so accommodating, but what bothered me was the price! I don't know if it has something to do with inflation. I was mentally computing if my budget was enough to buy all the needed.
While the sales staff were completing my list, I roamed around the hardware and stopped in this area.
I am not that artistic, so I find it hard to choose which one to buy for the dining area. I already have something on my mind, but it was not included here in the choices. I don't want to risk it as it might end up not pleasing to the eyes. I guess we will be checking out some hardwares.
This was the hard part when the design you wanted was not available when purchasing. It will be a mess if you don't have other choices.
On the other side, different styles and designs of tiles were displayed, even bowls for comfort rooms. I felt somehow regretful when I saw the tiles designed I wanted. It was not available the last time I was here.
I was about to check more products, but then I was called by the sales staff. The color paint I wanted was sadly not available. I was thinking about what will be my second choice they offered me to check the " color guide." Goodness, thanks to these awesome people.
.
After a while, I paid the cashier, and I was right. My budget was not enough, but glad they are accepting credit cards, or else that would be an embarrassing moment for me.
This is only what I bought!
When we arrived home, I checked our house, but on my way, the dragon fruits planted by my mother-in-law caught my attention.
There are still several fruits left. Was this available in your country? It was a high source of Vitamin C and other antioxidants that was good for the immune system. Not only that, it can boost iron levels. Source
Here is the close up photo.
Yes, it has a lot of health benefits, but I don't like the taste. It's weird, maybe because of the seeds.
However, the mother-in-law likes this fruit, the reason why she planted some in the backyard. What I did not expect was she would be giving me some. Oh NO! I think she was not aware I don't like these fruits. How can I say NO to her?
I don't want to offend her as much as possible. She even packed it well and placed it inside my backpack.
My mother always reminds us to maintain good relationships with our parents-in-law as she believes having issues with them was a bit of bad luck. Aside from that, personally, the mother-in-law could be the best ally in case the husband lost his way home. Isn't it?
It was a little bit heavy, but who am I to complain? This was expensive in the city. Prices range from $5 up per kilo. Yet I got mine for free, not to mention it was freshly picked.
I arrived safely back in our dorm, starving from a long ride. Yet I don't have something to eat aside from oatmeal. That's when I remember the dragon fruits. I added slices, and now it tastes better.
And that's how I spent my weekend. How about yours?
Thank you for dropping by.
