Weekend Engagement No. 217 Prompt
What are you doing this weekend and why? - Use your own photos.
Hello everyone, it has been a while since I've posted in The Weekend community. I find myself trying to think of good answers to the prompts, and then I get distracted by work and other stuff. Suddenly, the weekend is over! We have also been in the process of looking for a new house and moving, which hasn't allowed as much time for blogging. We are finally starting to get settled into our new place in Upstate New York.
Today we went to the tiny beach on Lake Champlain that is just a couple blocks from our new house. The reason we went here was because there was a heat advisory. The temperature rose to 89 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon. Before we enjoyed ourselves at the beach, we had some chores and errands to run. We went grocery shopping, and then headed to the laundromat. The reason we went to the laundromat was because we don't have a washer and dryer in our new place yet. We love our new neighborhood because it's very quaint and everything is very walkable, including the laundromat.
This afternoon, as we walked on the sidewalk along the lake, I looked down into the water and thought I saw a long piece of rubber floating. I then realized that it was possibly a snake. We couldn't get a close look until we walked down to the tiny beach along the lake. We went over toward the rocks along the hill and saw it was a dead eel floating in the water. It had washed up closer to shore and we were able to see it very closely. I had no idea these were swimming in the water and it was a little unsettling. Luckily the beach near our place has clear water, so I would be able to spot one while swimming.
