Hello everyone, today I share with you some rare snow photos from January 2022. We live in a resort beach town on the eastern shore of Maryland. If we're being perfectly honest, it's not really my scene. I'm not really a beach person and definitely prefer the mountains. But, for the time being, we rent a family member's beach house.
The weather here tends to be a little warmer than the rest of Maryland. We get a lot of wind and gale warnings. However, we rarely get snow. While the rest of Maryland gets snow in the winter, we typically receive slushy rain. Earlier this week, we had two-hour school delays for flooding from Hurricane Ian. This is more typical.
With that being said, I made sure to document a rare snow occurrence earlier this year. We had a blizzard in January 2022. I very much enjoyed it, considering I stocked up on groceries and didn't have to drive. Ocean City has an extremely busy summer season, which I dread. However, our neighborhood practically becomes a ghost town in the winter, save for the other few permanent residents. For me, winter here is an oasis.
Sometimes we get rumors of snow coming to Ocean City when the rest of Maryland is expected to get snow. This often leads to a let down on my end, as we look outside at measly flurries that evaporate into slush as they hit the ground.
When I heard rumors of Ocean City getting pummeled by snow in January 2022, I was skeptical. To my surprise, the weather report was accurate. The house did literally get blanketed with snow because of the intense wind that came along with it.
Since Gabby rarely experiences snow, I wanted to take photos of her experience in the snow. At first, she had a baffled look on her face. After some awkward walking pursuits in the snow, she got the hang of it. We went for a walk in the snow around the house and around the neighborhood. We don't have any hills in our area, so we have yet to go sledding. That is certainly another adventure to document.
