Good Saturday, friends of Weekend Experiences! Being the end of August, at least in Argentina, it is customary to encounter storms these days. The well-known “Santa Rosa storm”, which can also come early or late, is a strong signal that winter is about to end and spring is about to begin. That's why, from the comfort of home and without going out at all, today I'm writing a little later, I've been in a lazy mode all morning, haha. And of course, preparing my post!
Encouraged, as every week, by the initiative that brings us in this post I chose my favorite topic. This time I wanted to change the way I chose my topic, but really one of them had all the lights on! I chose to do a drawing of me, working. Although I don't have a traditional job, and one drawing would not be enough for me, I did a kind of portrait with watercolor colors, I hope you like it !
I started with the pencil sketch, and I proposed to make in my space a lot of wool, since it is what I really do as a way of work and are my weavings. Although I really have other activities to add, I focus my way of working when I'm knitting, that's why I ventured into something I don't do very often and that is to make a portrait, or consider that I will put myself in a drawing, I will portray myself working. It is something that in general artists do, and I only practice it with photography, when I want to leave in a portrait what I usually do is to choose those things that stand out the most to me and the way to congenialize them in a single subject is taking a picture.
So today, I set out to imagine myself in a space full of wool and balls, I wasn't going to draw my face very clearly because my style of drawing is more like cartoons, but that doesn't mean that the drawing doesn't simulate me working. I really liked giving it color and daring to do something I don't usually do when it comes to drawings, which is to position myself in them. My concentration face is usually like this, with my tongue out, to balance (?) haha if they're going to think I'm crazy, it's better if I give them reasons, right? Maybe it's quite childish but I feel that I keep in my drawings as well as in my knitting, my inner child who always has fun creating.
Besides, it's winter, and as I said, it's raining. That's why I made my characteristic coats, the bulky gray scarf and the Rolling Stones sweater, as well as the mate, the incense, the candle and the music playing. There are also some finished amigurumis on the shelves and from my window the tree is leafy. Clearly the hair is a bit tousled, the humidity doesn't help and the curls don't quite form, that's why I usually have a bird's nest instead of hair, haha.
That said about the base drawing and the details that go with it, my thermos actually has a Hive sticker so I loved to draw it there, the final part is to give everything a touch of lines with a microfiber and highlight the user name on the colors I put there.
I say goodbye as always thankful, they gave my morning an artistic sense since I don't usually draw every day, and today is probably just a day for movies, mate and bed. Still, I will love to read your stories about the topics of this weekend, I leave you a big hug and have a beautiful end of the month!!!!
Thanks for reading me, Kiki✨
