As a self-employed person, I find taking a break a lot harder than I did when I worked for someone else. There are very obvious reasons for this - of course. But what invariably happens is that, at some point, I will suffer from a serious case of burnout. And you'd think I'd know the signs by now, but I still almost always work harder than I need to. The last few weeks I have been approaching those levels and I knew it was time to put the brakes on.
With that said, this Bank Holiday weekend, my other half is home, which means not working is a lot easier because I have someone to talk to!
So, I did SOME work this morning. I finally have a new book coming out, so I set up the pre-order for it and told people about it - I also used TikTok for the first time in forever.
Then, we watched Ant Man (Marvel nerd here!), and had a Chinese takeaway.
And you know what? I feel a lot better for it. (Not the takeaway, the rest 😜). I need to take more time off and not spend every spare minute working on something or another. Yes, my cash flow relies on me working hard, but also, I have to remember to practise a bit more self-care.
