As an entrepreneur myself, I’m beginning to think weekends exist only in fantasy. Sometimes I work till late-night at weekends and doze languidly on weekdays. But my friends and family members do have and value weekends like other normal human beings do and they keep reminding me so. What would I do without them?!
I'm into design and as a creative director, a generalist at that. I do all sorts of things like motion design, graphic design, 3D archviz, illustration, film editing and I usually collaborate with other artists in respective fields. I do like my profession and it does not bore me at all. I can actually keep doing what I do at the office on the weekends as well, pretty much willingly and happily. But that is not what I throw myself at when I have some free time.
I spend my 'me time' reading books, watching films, listening to music, and playing video games. Although mostly the first three — as these are my poison.
I thought about posting in this community but hesitated for quite a while. I was going through some of the posts made by other members to see what they were posting about their weekends and oh boy, am I envious of people who are always on the move! It’s a wonder they can make those trips! I wish I could do that. But I'm kinda lazy, homebound, and even though I'm deeply grateful to the sun for supporting all life forms on earth, constantly, I don't want to see her when she's right on top, thank you very much!
The topic for this weekend is to make plans about the things I plan to do. Let’s see.
I want to read Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. This one has been sitting on my To Be Read pile for quite a while. I don’t know how the story will turn but my guess from the title is that it will probably do some commentary on the society with a tragicomedy story. I will write a review once I’m done reading it.
One of my current reads is the ninth book of the Malazan book of the fallen. It’s a massive one and I’m halfway done. Can’t say whether I’ll be able to finish it on this weekend, but I’ll sure try.
My mother wants to make a local delicacy, some sort of sweet jam made out of a gourd. I will help her prepare for it.
I also have a few films I’ve been planning to watch. I’m Thinking About Ending Things by Charlie Kaufman comes immediately to mind. It only got released last week I believe. Kaufman has been a favorite of mine but I like him more as a screenplay writer. Being John Malkovich is the greatest one he wrote so far IMO.
I also want to dust off my French a bit. I’m not attending any institution though and teaching yourself a language can get tedious sometimes. Sadly, I'm in such a phase now and need to get back on track as soon as possible!
That’s probably it for the weekend. My e-reader which is a kobo is charged and ready and I’m hoping to have a quality time with it!
