What are your goals over the next twelve months in your off-line life? Do you have set goals, or are they just hopes and dreams. Tell us what the next twelve months hold for you, what you'll achieve and how. Tell us how you'll track your progress and measure your success. [Crypto currency goals and responses are excluded.]
I've always believed that life is about being intentional because goals and dreams not set wouldn't achieve themselves. I believe so much in making plans, at least, do your part. A lot of people fail to make plans because they often get scared and ask, "What if it doesn't work out?" And I always respond the say way, "What if it does?" We can never know until we tried.
I've had this dream in my heart for a long time now and I've found myself talking about it more and more recently and that's why I've decided to set a target of 12 months for myself to achieve this. I have hinted at it a few times before but this dream was birthed because of the failure to achieve mine while growing up. Our purpose sometimes is wrapped up in the things life throws at us. We are to see to it that others won't have to repeat the same thing over again.
My 12 months plan is to get investors to help with education for many children. I've been working on the proposal and that's just recently and I am targeting 12 months to get things sorted out. I don't have to sort out huge funds right away if it won't come but whatever comes I would make do with it but I am optimistic.
I want to work on the proposal and tie up loose ends for the first month. I want to make the proposal appealing to anyone who would dare look at it and that's why for the first month of the 12 months plan, I want to draft the proposal for this project. For the second month, I want to get the name of the non-profit organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and the whole process with the legal consultations would cost me roughly $300 and I've made enquiries on that already.
After registering and sorting out the proposal, I would also create a separate account for it for the sake of transparency. The next 9 months would be crucial because I would have to be aggressive and strategic in the distribution of the proposals. I would target individuals that I know might be of help to assist these children to get the best out of life even if their parents cannot afford it. I am a firm believer that your background should not be the reason why your back should be on the ground.
I appreciated the quality education I had while growing up but left to me, I would never have gone for a higher degree and that's the option I want to give to those who want it as well. The major reason for establishing this non-profit organization is to help children gain clarity and direction as to what they want to do with their lives. Yes, some would want to pursue a higher degree, the organization would help them achieve that after we have given them the basic secondary school or high school degree and for those who want to learn a trade or a craft, we would also help them with the training while also empowering them to be the best they can be in that line. The goal would be to give them a starting point by getting them the needed tools to excel.
The next 12 months would be crucial and the first 3 months is more of the planning phase. I already have those I have spoken to who would help with the planning and those that would come on board to give direction to the organization and those who would help in sourcing for funds. We have to hit the ground running because there is little we can do to have volunteers around without being paid. Yes, we would have volunteers but it's better when we hit the ground running and everyone can continually give their best while they see it as a paying job too.
That's the plan for the next 12 months and it's strategic. I know for most people, after all is said and done, most of the time nothing is done but this is a dream I cannot allow to die especially given the need of the society or the country as I would say it. I want people to have equal footing. Yes, we cannot go back to make a brand new start but who says we can't give people a happy ending?
We would target 10 prominent people per month who can give us as little as a million Naira ($1,800) each and if we can get that target every month, that's 10M Naira monthly ($18,000) and for 9 months, that would be 90M Naira ($162,000). This would help in hitting the ground running as we would be able to carter for more students, especially those that need the basic education first while we enrol those who need training for crafts as well as those who need to further their education.
The real joy would come when we have the first set of students enrolled into school. The organization would also have a web developer who would help build the website while we can continually update the progress of the organization with picture evidence as we record the progress.
