My old dream has come true - to travel in real Turkey outside of an all-inclusive hotel! This is the second time I have come to this country this year. For the first time, I was from March to June in Kemer, Antalya district. I immediately fell in love with this country, which attracted me for many years with its climate, culture, traditions, music, dances...
Earlier, several years ago, I went to an all-inclusive hotel twice a week. I was a little disappointed there... Because among all the luxury, excessive amount of food and entertainment, I did not feel the spirit of real Turkey. Then I realized that the "all inclusive" vacation format is not for me!
You know, they say: fear has big eyes! It is always scary when a person has never traveled anywhere in his life! And so life pushed us on a journey "it is not known where and it is not known how long!"
In Turkey, I often saw the image of a man on billboards and posters. I didn't know who it was then, I understood that it was some famous person. Later I found out: Ata Turk is a national hero, former president...
And yesterday, October 29, I saw everywhere the red flags of Turkey with the moon and the sun.
What is the holiday today?
Republic Day is celebrated in Turkey on October 29.
This holiday is founded in honor of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic, which took place in 1923. Then, on October 29, the collapse of the Ottoman Empire was officially announced and some amendments were made to the Turkish Constitution.
Republic Day in Turkey is now celebrated by the entire nation. Usually, festive events begin a few days before the holiday itself. The traditional gesture is to hang the national flag.
This day is officially a holiday in all state institutions, as well as in educational institutions.
The holiday is celebrated very lavishly. On the main streets of big cities, parades are always held with the participation of army officers and schoolchildren.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who is considered a key figure in the history of Turkey, is especially often remembered on this day.
In addition, on this day, Turks honor with a minute of memory all compatriots who gave their lives for the independence of Turkey.
That is the joy of traveling freely to see the real life of the people of the country where you live. Learn about their history, culture and traditions. Hear their language. Listen to their songs. Get to know their character...
We had the pleasure and happiness to be among the Turkish people celebrating the Republic Day of Turkey on this day. There was a festive procession along the main street. People were walking, waving red flags! I felt joy and reunion! Later we listened to a concert on the square. Turks have a tradition of singing together with the artist on stage. When, after singing a part of the text, the performer pauses and thereby allows the people listening to him to continue the song! That sounds cool! Here in the video, you can feel this festive mood!
This post is written about where I am now. But I'll be back to telling my travel story, sequentially describing all the places I changed in my #TheLongestTrip
I thank everyone for your support ❤️
