Happy weekend to everyone in the community, for a few days now I have been like a little girl waiting for a gift or a promised ride, believe me that certainly we seniors go back to childhood.
Finally, Saturday arrived and with it, an event organized by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Havana and the Humboldt University of Germany.
I am sure you are wondering what motivates me so much?
First of all, I am going to share with colleagues of study and work, I graduated more than 40 years ago, we all have already combed gray hair and have exercised our profession in different sectors of the economy.
We are all economists and today we had the opportunity with this event to exchange, many were panelists and made interesting interventions.
It was very comforting to see that we laugh at the same jokes and to relive those times of youth is an injection of vitamins.
We were also all excited to talk about our achievements and growth as individuals and professionals.
It was interesting to hear from colleagues who have been involved in important economic policy discussions, that although the government agreed to include economists in its analysis, their opinions and research are not being heard.
The bitter taste of the conferences and debates was left by the number of problems faced by an economy that this year will not reach the planned 2% growth rate, on the contrary, it is contracting and has no sources of financing.
We are all aware that a change in the economic model is necessary and that the government needs to understand the need for a political economy that responds to the reality of the country.
We concluded the event with lunch in a lounge next to Las Cañitas, a famous bar in the second lobby of the hotel where we took refuge to relax and enjoy a little while.
Happy and grateful for this opportunity, it was definitely an energizing weekend.
