Here I am, ready as every weekend for the usual post for WEEKEND EXPERIENCE; I always look forward to this day and, this time too, I was thrilled with the suggestions given by the good
I have chosen to talk about something close to my heart, I want to develop the topic that deals with failure and success; there would really be a lot to write and there are many angles from which this issue can be treated.
โSuccess is 99% failure.โ
-Sochiro Honda.-
The first facet that, in my opinion, is important to look at is well summed up in the Honda quote I wrote just above; successes are often preceded by many failures and, if you think about it, success and failure are two sides of the same coin, I believe that once this has been ascertained, the fundamental thing is the approach one has, both towards the first and the second.
After all, if you think about it, life is always a matter of forma mentis; a positive and optimistic person will be led to see difficulties and failures as excellent growth opportunities, on the contrary, a pessimist will simply get discouraged and maybe give up.
Here, giving up is never the solution!
To learn to accept failure I changed my mental model.
Often, when it comes to achieving a goal, many of us adopt a mental model in which success and failure are mutually exclusive: on the one hand we imagine the lush path to success, free of obstacles and setbacks; on the other hand, the terrifying path of failure is visualized, made of pain and defeats.
But the crossroads is only in our mind, in reality the path to success is teeming with obstacles and it is precisely these obstacles that test our determination.
Failure is not an alternative to success, failure is a requirement for success.
Once I accepted this way of reasoning I also started to "learn to fail more often".
The more we fail, the more successes we get. If you're not failing enough, there can be only two explanations: either your goals aren't ambitious enough, or you're not doing anything to pursue your goals.
Don't get me wrong though, when I say "learning to fail" I certainly don't mean self-inducing myself to fail to learn, I simply began to throw myself into more experiences, to find more courage and to do things, to act; many times the no's we've heard aren't many, so much is the fear of hearing them that drives us not to try, it's a question of perceptions.
Of course, courage plays a fundamental part in all of this.
If failure is the means to success, courage is the fuel. To keep trying, even when you've failed many times by now, you have to have courage. Courage can also be trained and, precisely because of what I have just written, it is necessary to do so. Whenever you face the fear of failure, take the lead. Only in this way will courage grow, together with your successes.
In general however, as always, everything starts from the mind; there is nothing more difficult than mastering one's mind and making it our most important weapon.
Of course, when we talk about success and failure, we are not just talking about a discourse of approach and mindset that yes, they are essential to achieve success and to know how to get back up and improve after a failure, but they are not enough by themselves otherwise it would be enough simply to think positive to achieve your goals.
The practical part is also fundamental; you need a well-structured plan, you need to know how to evaluate every situation and know how to react to the inconveniences that will always, sooner or later, come; it is essential to act therefore leave laziness and procrastination aside; it takes tenacity and perseverance.
That said, this topic also has purely philosophical implications since, as far as success is concerned, it is something very subjective and that everyone can define in their own way.
For some it could mean being filthy rich, for others it could mean being a good parent, for still others it could be establishing themselves in their work.
There would really be a lot of thought work to be done and, in any case, a single definition would not be reached.
For me personally, success is a combination of many things; it has a very character component, I see as successful people self-confident, courageous, intelligent, well-educated men and women who have the continuous desire to learn and a great curiosity; for me it is part of success to be kind and well-mannered, selfless, good-hearted, honest and sincere people; of course there is also a more material part which, however, I am not associated with simple money; as I have often said, in my opinion, money is only a means to achieve goals and for this very reason it comes as a result of certain behaviours; for me a successful person and someone who is always among the best in what he does, who is efficient and productive in his work and who always keeps up to date, all these things put together, if we look at the situation from a work perspective, ( whatever it is) always lead to earning money.
Another important thing, a successful person is not measured by the clothes he wears or by the car he drives, however it is also true that, as I see it, being successful also means having style and elegance which leads to knowing how to dress well and knowing what to wear on every occasion and why not even driving a nice car.
The dress doesn't make the monk, but it's always good to make a good first impression and, moreover, putting yourself in the shoes of the people we take as a model is still an exercise in visualization.
Of course this doesn't mean going into debt to have a Lamborghini like Cristiano Ronaldo, lol!
It's also my idea that, if we look at the economic aspect of success, those who achieve it also know what to do with it, this means giving the right weight to money even when you have a lot of it, knowing how to spend it and knowing how to make it work for us.
It is important to know how to manage successes and failures because the latter are necessary to achieve the first but one must do so as not to repeat the same mistakes endlessly; in the same way, if you don't know how to manage success, it becomes difficult to maintain it and you can vote against it like a boomerang.
In this post I mainly talked about success but, as I said before, failure is your inseparable travel companion, therefore when we reach a goal and feel like we are successful people we must learn to bless and thank all the failures that have brought us this far. at that point.
Well, I'll stop here; as said you could write for hours about this topic but I don't want to exaggerate and then we can continue talking about it in the comments if you like.
Thank you so much for getting this far.
Hug you!
