At this point, I just want to exhaust all my cave adventures in Camotes Island and start with another travel series. Been busy with work in the last few weeks so I was only able to post old poems to commemorate our country's annual month-long celebration of our national language, Filipino. The cave we're going to quickly explore today is the second to the last if I got the numbers right. Let's keep going!
It was a fine Sunday afternoon and our 2nd day at Camotes Island. We've had a fun-filled day so far and we're down to the last cave we had on our list that day. After visiting Heaven Cave, Amazing Island Cave and Paraiso Cave, we wasted no time and drove our way to Timubo Cave.
Timubo Cave just like the rest of the caves we visited is accessible via a small opening in the ground. But for Timubo Cave, it required going down a bit deeper, which something that I despise. The deeper we go, the scarier it becomes.
At first, I didn't really like the vibe of Timubo. Maybe I was too tired that day, too! Imagine exploring three caves prior to Timubo Cave; I was honestly exhausted. I didn't tell my boyfriend that I was tired but it showed when I only took a few photos. In fact, I didn't bring my phone with me, I just borrowed my boyfriend's phone and took the photos you are seeing.
The path toward the main chamber and the pool was dark, slippery, and cold. There's also a part where the path was too narrow. When we arrived in the main chambers, I was disappointed to see that the main chamber had low ceiling and the area surrounding the pool area smelled like urine. Taking into account all these things made Timubo Cave the least of my favorites.
But before I stop here and leaving you with unfavorable review of Timubo, it'll be unfair not to mention the great side of the cave. If there's one thing that made Timubo a bit memorable, it's its cave pool. The natural pool was long and deep with the usual clean and clear azur blue/ultramarine blue water. Since it was deep enough for swimming, I definitely enjoyed my time swimming here.
We had some refreshments (fresh coconut) right after our visit in Timubo and went to our next and last destination of the day, Tulong Diot Island. Which I'll share some other time!
