Hello Hivers!
Greetings to all of you!
Guess who turned 36 this Sunday?
Me!
And what better way to celebrate it than being part of the World's Largest Orchestra? I don't think anything can top that!
For those of you who don't know yet, I'm a Venezuelan Musician and I was invited to participate in the official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Largest Orchestra.
Twelve thousand five-hundred musicians from all over the country gathered in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, to make this possible. Four days, three nights of rehearsals, buses, and a lot of sun, ended with a whirlwind of emotions of pride and joy due to the energy that came out from each and one of us when we played Marche Slave, the piece chosen to break the record.
On Saturday, my state's delegation arrived at 10 am and waited for the other 23 delegations that were arriving at that place. While waiting, the scorching sun this its workings but nobody put the instruments away, we took pictures, we took them to the luthier (a professional repair person for musical instruments) we got accessories for our instruments, we met new people from different parts of the country, and those of us who like me, are a little seasoned, we reencountered with old friends from our youth.
My birthday was on Sunday, a day after the event, but I got to celebrate it with my other family, my friends from the orchestra, my teachers, my colleagues. It was awesome! Happy Birthday to me!!
The farewell was bitter sweet, I wish it could last longer, but like all things, this one had to come to an end, but, we all are united forever as the World's Largest Orchestra.
Ten days separate us from knowing the official results but one thing is certain, we made history, for our past, for our present, for our future, We are El Sistema!
Best weekend ever!
See you next time folks!!
