This photo was taken in Hokkaido, Japan. I took this photo from the window of my hotel room in one of the ski resorts. This trip was memorable for me because it was the first time in my life that I actually got to see and experience falling snow. (I live in Singapore where it's summer all year round.)
There were many activities to do within the resort apart from skiing and I really enjoyed myself for the few days there. The food was delicious, the onsens were relaxing, and the company was great!
There was a little drama towards the end of the trip though. The snowfall became very heavy on the day we were leaving and we were worried that the flights out would be affected. Fortunately, we flew out safe and sound, but we saw in the news over the next few days that there was a snowstorm in Hokkaido and some flights were affected. So I guess we were very lucky!
This photo was taken in Noboribetsu, Japan. This is one of the many places in Japan that are well-known for their hot spring resorts. I took a 2 hour train ride from the city and spent the day here at their famous attraction Hell Valley (which is what you see in this photo). It was a scenic walk along a wooden plank pathway where you get to see mountains, geysers, craters, etc in this valley. Even though the weather was freezing, the place was still filled with tourists.
I also had the chance to visit one of the hot springs, and the unique part about it was that there was an outdoor section. Imagine being in the hot waters and having snow fall onto your head at the same time - the experience was definitely surreal.
So that's all for my sharing of snowy photos! Ah, I realise that writing this post and looking through my past holiday photos make me miss these good times and the snow. Perhaps it is time to plan some overseas trips and relive some of these experiences!
