Has it ever happened to you that you "discover" a place that was always there but you were never aware of its presence?
This happened to me on Sunday on a family outing to La Asunción, which is one of the places we frequent constantly because of its proximity to our home and because my children have their extracurricular activities there, specifically in the Plaza de La Asunción.
The fact is that we go to this place three times a week since March and it was only on Sunday that I discovered an incredibly beautiful place that I have always had in front of me but I had never seen it before.
It is an Artisan Center called El Güire. It is a little place that has four small craft stores, jewelry and souvenirs alluding to our island and although it is tiny, the visual impact and beauty it has makes it incredibly beautiful.
As I say, I go to this place very often, in fact on many occasions we sit right on the corner to share a drink or a meal while we wait for our children and I had never noticed it before.
It is even part of the building where we sit so many times and just on Sunday by pure chance I noticed it by browsing around a bit.
I had always seen the ad at the entrance, but I had never read it, it is very inconspicuous and I think that's why I overlooked it, but that day I was walking around while the kids were playing and I finally read it and you can't imagine the surprise I got!
The architecture of the building dates back to colonial times which I love and the Centro Artesanal as such is a bit hidden, I think that was the reason why I had not seen it, but there is always a time for everything and that day was the time to know it.
The entrance is super nice and after you are inside you don't know where to look. The colorfulness was the first thing that caught my attention, but what was really spectacular is that each of its walls is a work of art in itself showing different landscapes of our country and the island.
A beautiful work that gives a great value to the place and as you can see it is tiny, very intimate as to be quiet and although it is not a place to go for a walk because it is really small the fact that it has those two little tables and that you can buy in the restaurant on the corner and eat there in total peace is wonderful.
I don't like crowded places and although there is not much to walk around there is a lot to see and I promised myself to come back one day to enjoy this charming place with my family eating something delicious surrounded by so much beauty.
Once I left the Centro Artesanal I started thinking about how life sometimes passes us by and we don't realize it. We are so busy with the day to day and thousands of problems that we don't stop to look at the beauty that surrounds us.
That place almost hit me in the face and I had never noticed it and just as it happens with a place it happens with many things.
We have people incredibly close to us and we just don't see them, we are surrounded by wonderful things, so many blessings that because we are in a continuous running we overlook.
Let's pause, let's slow down, and beyond looking, let's observe what surrounds us. Let's look at the one next to us, let's notice everything we have, let's be grateful and let's live!
