Lately I've been more aware of how ephemeral life can be and consequently how important it is to LIVE. Yes, "live " so big and with neon lights haha! To take advantage of every minute of sharing with the people we love. To turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.
So taking that new wave of thinking into account, we have decided to take advantage as a family of any opportunity no matter how small and simple it may be. And the results have been wonderful.
I really feel that we are closer and even happier.
In my house the signs of affection have always been present, I would say that in excess haha, but since we are going out as a family to do any activity we feel another atmosphere at home and you can definitely notice that each member of my family feels happy.
The best of all is that we don't need to do anything extraordinary to be together and enjoy. Any little outing already becomes something special. And that's what happened last Saturday when we attended the Book Fair.
We found out about the fair thanks to the extracurricular activities of my youngest daughter Miranda, who has to attend her orchestra classes every Friday.
The orchestra is in La Asuncion, the capital of our state, located right in front of the Plaza Bolivar and the cathedral and is considered the historical center of the state, so we are talking about a very nice place.
The square is full of trees everywhere which in itself makes it a very nice place to be and there are a lot of benches to sit and rest.
In this square you can always see a lot of movement, since apart from the orchestra is the Omar Carreño Arts Center, where many disciplines are taught for children, such as ballet, dance and theater.
Also nearby is the Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture) where they teach painting and traditional dances for children and also the headquarters of the Children and Youth Orchestra System of the Municipality of Arismendi, so it is always full of children and parents who attend the various activities.
We go here three times a week to take Miranda to the Orchestra and Ballet. And while we wait we enjoy breathing fresh air and our company.
The last Friday as usual we went with Miranda and noticed that there was more movement than usual and even music. All this was due to the Book Fair.
There were several stands with a wide variety of books both new and used at very affordable prices. Whatever genre you were looking for, they had it.
I was really fascinated because I love reading so that was paradise and Miranda wanted to visit the fair after school but her brother Matias had chess classes so we could not stay, so we decided to go the next day.
So on Saturday afternoon we went again just for that activity.
When we arrived the first thing we heard was the traditional music of our state that invaded the whole atmosphere.
All the stands were already set up with books and besides that we could see several stands with typical handicrafts of our region.
We walked through each of the places where the books were arranged looking for a title that caught my attention. There were so many that it was really hard to focus on anything.
I felt like I was in paradise haha. I saw many that I already had at home and many others (too many actually) that I would like to have.
They had an extensive variety of books, from study encyclopedias to self-help books that have been super trendy for a while now. Many mystery and suspense books which are my favorites and romance novels by Isabel Allende and works by Paulo Coelho, one of my favorite authors (in fact I have a small collection at home).
The children were walking among the different stands looking for something that caught their attention but mostly moved by the curiosity of seeing so many books together.
During the tour I came across a little corner that caught my attention, since they were doing a book exchange! You would leave one and take one back. I thought it was really a fabulous option for those who could not buy.
Apart from the main attraction, which were the books, a group of traditional dancers performed, which made the moment much more enjoyable and got the attendees moving with the rhythmic beat of the typical drum of our country.
We ended our day sharing some delicious ice creams sold in a very picturesque little restaurant with outdoor tables that I love. Because it preserves the old appearance of our capital.
The architecture of the area is from the colonial era and that gives it a very special touch and is undoubtedly part of its attraction.
As you can see, although it was not an activity of the other world as we say here in Venezuela, we were able to enjoy a totally different afternoon.
I have always thought that it is not the activity but who you are with! It was a very special Saturday in the company of the people I love. What more can I ask for?
Hugs and have a great weekend.
Kisses and blessings!
