Just about 10days ago, my neighbor called to discuss with me the issues with the building we rented. After gisting for 10 minutes, she said and I quote “I need a new apartment”
The house is so bad that it has started to bother us. As soon as I entered my room, I decided to take action on hunting for a new apartment too.
I planned for the kind of apartment I needed and I aimed for it. The bad news is, I didn't share my house hunting journey here on Hive. The good news is I found a suitable place for myself within 7days.
Yesterday, I met with the lawyer in charge of the new apartment, I was interviewed before the deal was sealed and the key was handed over to me.
At 8am today(11-17-2021), I headed to my new apartment to wash the spaces. It took I and about 3hours to finish washing and drying the following spaces;
- 1 sitting room
- 2 bedrooms
- 3 bathrooms
- 1 kitchen
- A dining space
I would have offered a house-cleaner to do the job but decided we do it together since there wasn't much to do.
My Weekend Is Planned!
The past 10days of my life have been tough and stressful. But I am glad I will be finishing up the new apartment this weekend.
The sitting room
There is nothing special in this new space yet as you can see from the image above. This coming weekend, Sunday to be precise, I have planned to move my property from my old apartment down to this new place. My old apartment is smaller compared to the new one. With that said, this sitting room might still look empty after moving stuff from the old sitting room down here. Well, I can't say for now till Sunday.
The rooms
My old place is a 1-bed room apartment while the new place is a 2bedroom apartment. This simply means I will be having the space in the pic above in two places(close to each other). But I have decided to show just one for they are similar.
These two rooms came with 1 wardrobe each. Because of this, I would have to sell my old wardrobe or else it'd consume space this weekend. I will try to find a buyer before Sunday.
The kitchen
There's nothing special here too, just an empty space with a kitchen slab. By the weekend,, this space will be filled with almost anything you can find in the kitchen.
Risk?
My new kitchen doesn't have a hole on the wall to pass the pipe from my gas cylinder through to the gas burner. So, I have decided that the gas cylinder will be dropped inside the kitchen. My old apartment has a pipe hole on the wall so I was able to drop my gas cylinder outside the kitchen.
I don't know if this is okay but that's the only option in my head for now. By the weekend or after a few weeks of staying there, I might change the position.
You can see from the three images above that I've got a lot of work to do this weekend. It'd be stressful but I'm glad I finally found an apartment within one 1week which is unusual in a Nigeria setting and that I'd be setting things up under 15days from the initial thought of getting it.
You would love to see how the aftermath would be like? I promise to share it on my blog. Stay tuned.
