DGR Johannesburg Ride
Today, I am taking a bit of a break on my vacation posting. The past weekend, to be more specific, Sunday was the DGR (Distinguished Gentleman's Ride). This a world wide ride, taking place in around 890 Cities across the world. The purpose is to raise funds for men's health.
You can read more about this by following the link: DGR
One is supposed to dress dapper for this occasion. They also want classic or modern classic bikes to participate. I went on my old 1958 BMW R60, dressed in my old military jacket.
We were a handful of riders meeting at a coffee shop in Pretoria, to ride in a small group to meet up with riders in Johannesburg, from where the ride would officially depart.
We soon made it to the venue in Johannesburg.
According to the organisers, there were 700 bikes registered or this ride. I must say there was quite a crowd.
We rode in a convoy to our final destination, which was the Prison Break Market, about a 30km ride from where we started.
Here we could order food and drinks, while there was some live music playing.
There were a few, beautiful classic bikes on the ride.
There was a nice vibe, and everybody enjoyed themselves. Beer and Bikes goes together well, thus I had myself a nice cold one!!
After the ride, back to Pretoria, two of my friends and I stopped at a pub, for a final parting round.
We had a great day out, enjoying ourselves and our old bikes.
I hope you enjoyed the post and that you have a wonderful day.
