To bring these reforms that would transform India.
We are the largest democratic country - where the common man has a lot of role - really ? As a common man, I could never influence anything and I wish, there was a system where I could express what changes I would like to see to make this country better. I think, this week's weekend engagement challenge gives a perfect opportunity to express my feelings on what reforms would help a common man like me. Before starting, I would like to thank our Prime Minister Narendra Modi to not ban crypto currencies outrightly - lot of rumors were being spread before the budget but seems there are some wise men who definitely saw the benefit that this country would get from crypto. I am sure, we will see better taxation soon as lot of people who have invested in crypto are not very rich and instead have invested only to better their life.
My very first frustration is about the tax exemption that is being given for Child Education. We are eligible to claim a tax exemption of Rs. 100 per month or Rs. 1200 per year for a maximum of up to 2 children - is that not a joke ? I am not sure, since when this policy is there, but either it should be abolished or the government should provide such schools where I can give my child better education spending only this much !!
The next point I would like to touch is Reservation- why do we have that forever ? At whose cost ? If a person from a reserved category becomes a doctor without being competent, why not reserve those doctors for that reserved category ? Will the people from reserved category will agree to be treated by doctors from that category only ? There are many such jobs, where reservation is a curse. Should we not abolish such a system that has been in practice for so many years ? Reservation was supposed to bring those backward caste people at par with others - but if they are already in better position, why their children should also be given reservation ? If at all we need to give some benefits, then give financial help for betterment in elementary education - to enable them to compete in professional education. The IT sector does not have any reservation - does it face any problem ? Sports does not have any reservation - do we not want to have the best talent doing life saving or critical jobs ?
Subsidy or free money in various scheme to people has paralyzed this country. We are the second largest populated country in this world and we just do one thing right - increase our population ? Why do we need to give subsidy of free money to people who are young ? If the young population of this country will not work, then how do we expect to grow our productivity ? And at whose cost ? I see several scheme providing such benefits to people across all age group. Can't we change that to give benefits to people who are at least more than age of 45 or 50 ? Are you not giving all these benefits for the sake of vote politics at the expense of honest tax payers ?
Corruption in this country has reduced - ya, we improved by one position to achieve the position of 85 among 180 countries. There are laws, there are enforcement agencies and what not - does their appraisal has any mention of this index anywhere ? If not then what exactly they are doing ? Should it not be one of the top agenda of governance ? Blockchains like #HIVE can provide great resource to develop systems that would facilitate transparency - if only the government wish to develop such system. We all know how honest we are - but we are improving :) The rich are getting richer, and poor getting poorer - but our economy is improving.
Black Money is invisible - to people like me, but there are smart people there who knows how to keep them. I honestly wonder, how my place is one of the poorest states of the country - ya, we are ranked eighth from the bottom with almost 30% population being found multi-dimensionally poor - really ? I live in the state capital and every now and then I see luxurious cars like Audi and BMW, on the road. In fact I heard somewhere the Audi showroom at my place is the second largest selling showroom in the country. And land price - I could never catch up the price to buy a land in the capital, because the price is no lesser then any tier 1 city. In fact, you will find house cheap in Bangalore than my place. But we are poor :)
There are so many other issues, but before wrapping this post I would like to touch healthcare. I am sure, you all must have heard about the govt approved rate for Covid test. And if you did Covid test in a private hospital, then you must be wondering who permitted them to charge so much. In fact I wonder, if anyone even controls them after giving the license to loot people. Is healthcare sector a free to earn sector for private players ? Last time my mother was admitted in a hospital, I had to fight with the hospital authorities before settling the final bill. She was in a MICU that had 8 patients and they charged some extra amount to clean the MICU ( I don't remember the exact word they put in bill), but I was shocked to see that. Are you crazy ? Did see had a luxurious stay to pay some extra tips to clean the mess ? What is the charge of MICU covers then ? After much fight, they took off that, so next time make sure you look at the final bill.
I am going to tag our honorable prime minister on twitter with this post - but hey, why Prime Minister ? Because I think, being in the supreme power, one has capacity to bring in these reforms. Reforms that would help every common man of this country. I know I am not going anywhere, but as a honest tax payer I have every rights for free speech ?
