Don't enjoy the money if you have not earned it
This is all real. My philosophy of life - if I have not earned something, then I should not enjoy it. If I get something without any effort then I would give it to someone who is in need, because God has given me meed of my work, to meet my requirements. I always teach the same to my kids. This incidence happened last summer (6th March 2021 as per the date from the photos), when Covid was little liberal on us, we had gone to the big market to buy some specific fabrics from a store. Back then I had captured photos but it never made to a post. This WEEKEND-ENGAGEMENT posting topic prompts reminded me to write about the incidence, thanks to to bring niche prompts that helps us refresh our memory. I would recommend everyone to subscribe to the community to participate in these prompts that would help you to look within - to your inner self.
Along with me were my daughter and wife - we left our son at his Grandmother's home.
After buying the clothes from the store, we went to the extreme corner of the market to another store that specializes with kids inner wire. While coming back from there, my daughter saw a 200₹ note lying on the road. She was holding my hand, so she stopped me to pick that. I was surprised when I looked back, because the market is so crowded, how did no one noticed before her. Look at this place - hundreds of people must be going that way every minute.
May be there was some good intention behind she discovering it. Interestingly, as soon as she picked up, couple of people saw her and started staring at her, as if it was their money or they wished, they found it. But when they saw me they just kept mum. Probably they would have argued, if I were not there. After walking few yards, my daughter asked me - What should we do with this ? I instantly answered, give it to them who needs more than you. You are gifted by GOD to have what you want, but there are people there, who do not have this much. So find them and give it to them.
She was still not clear, so she asked where do we find them ? I told, I will help you find them. While walking on that way I had noticed a blind person sitting with a weighing machine with a written paper - See your weight in 1₹. Some people were paying him more, knowing that he is needy. On the opposite side, another handicapped person was begging. He was looking very healthy and normal except he was handicapped by one leg. So I showed both of them to my daughter and asked her to decide, who do you want to give and why ?
She pointed to the blind person after thinking for few minutes. When I asked why, she said, even though he is blind and even cannot see who is giving what, he believes no one is going to cheat him. More ever he is not begging, which probably he could also do. He wants to enjoy what he earns. I was humbled to hear this - she does have a very good heart like me and she does have good insight as well. So I told her to measure her weight and give that 200₹ bill and tell him that it's a 200₹ bill so that he will keep it in his pocket - no one should take advantage of his condition.
Coming back our way, I could see the pleasure in her face. She is a replica of me or may be more than that - an angel - she always does the right thing and never likes to be sorry. These learning will definitely inspire her and I am sure, she will teach the same to our next generation.
Life always brings challenges for us. But that does not mean, we should leave our integrity trying to find out something which could be unethical. I came across a real example this morning, that made my day. I have lived a similar life, its all real. I am sure, if you look at this, it will make your weekend.
Even the quote from the boy is famous now - “मेहनत सुनसान होनी चाहिए, कामयाबी का शोर होना चाहिए” - Google tranlates it to "Hard work should be deserted, success should be noisy". Those who believe in hard work know they can always bring a change. They are a different breed. Its already viral and trending in India. More to follow on this news at this tweet :
