When I first saw the topics of the week, the first thing that came into mind was, damn this would take some long thinking. But nevertheless, it's good to dive into the memory lane and visit the time when things happened so unexpectedly that it left an everlasting impact on life.
So, childhood accidents, I have a few of these in my list but one that somehow struck funny is the one I will choose to write about.
My dumbass childhood self just crossed the threshold of the ten years life cycle, being all cool and rebellious. So, one fine afternoon, I declared my rebellious protest against my mothers nagging of taking an afternoon nap which did nothing but fueled the motherly anger. So, what did I do to get out of the way of her wrath and avoid a possible smacking?
I ran away from home.
Now don’t take the running away part seriously, it was just a few hours of roaming around the roads, and then coming back at dawn in the hope that the wrath of my mum could be avoided. Which most of the time proven to be ineffective. But nevertheless, my dumb self still chose to do the same act over and over again.
So, that memorable day, it was burning hot outside and even though I was hoping to find other kids to play with, unlike me, all of my friends were taking the annoying nap or were unable to get out from their mothers watch. So, with nothing else to do, I decided to look for rocks to add in my rock collection. In the middle of the quest, another kid came around and asked me to play with her. Now, the only thing I could find to play that involved two people was cops and thrives. Mainly one of us would be a cop and chase the other one and if succeed, the role would be reversed.
Now, we used to live in a small hill-side town, and like the saying goes, when there are hills, there are snakes, in a way, I practically grew up with them. But never once did I have to face the venom of it, well things were about to change. As the chasing continued, we slowly drifted towards the pond side of the playground. After a while, suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my right foot, but instead of checking why I felt the pain, I decided to avoid it and continue to play. Next thing I know, the sudden pain turned into a shivering sensation, and it was too strong for me to ignore this time, and when I looked down to see what the hell happened, I finally came fact to face with one of my childhood traumas.
The thing was, While I was playing with the other kid, I accidentally stepped on a snake that was either heading towards some pre-planned destination or simply just chilling at the pond-side. To take revenge for invading its personal territory, it decided to take my toe in its mouth and bite down as hard as it could. But, because I was still running while it was trying to accomplish the revenge plot, it could not properly grasp its target, so it decided to wrap my leg up to the knees with its body as firmly as it could and continued the biting down ceremony.
Not gonna lie, the site scared the shit out of me and the last thing I did was shake my leg as hard as I could to get the snake out of my toe and once I accomplished that, running back to home as fast as humanly possible. Now, my mum was waiting there to beat the crap out of me, but when she saw me I was shaking and trying to bind a rope above the bite mark, things didn’t go as she planned.
I was taken to the hospital shortly after and things didn’t escalate to a near death experience. But, If you think about it, there is a up and down side of this story, the upside is, I didn’t had to face my mums wrath for the rebellious act, and the downside, now I have Ophidiophobia. :3
So there you have it, The story of how I fought my way out from a snakes mouth.
