Hail to the Hive!
So after about 10 days re visiting old family & old friends or to be more accurate having them come visit me on the canal, it's time to set off again. It has been wonderful. Seeing old friends, long talks, beers, food, laughter and the remembrance and reinforcement of old friendships has been such a tonic for my soul.
But it's time to go wandering and to explore. We will come back in a few months. So we are setting off this morning and plan to head off just a few miles to get the ball rolling.
We have planned for a few friends to visit us at the first mooring spot before we leave Leicester proper.
Kings Lock
In normal times the cafe at the old lock house would be open but they are only doing take aways but to be honest the canal side and the stern deck of our boat is actually better.
So we will moor up here and wait for them to arrive.
Perhaps I will grab a Honey and Stem Ginger icecream. Why not? It is the weekend.
Badger is waiting.....
They are on the way with food and beers but i still need to have my #beersaturday online boozeup with
What does he have on the go this Saturday?
Well I am all prepared with some 'Piston Head' beers i picked up yesterday when I was supposed to be buying marigold rubber gloves and hot sauce, sounds kinky I know.
So I'll start with some flat tire dry hopped 4.5% deliciousness to get my weekend #beersaturday weekend groove on.
and follow it up with some Kustom lager.
And now the gangs arrived as well I'll have to dig in to my special reserver of Guinness West Indies Porter.
We really didn't get very far at all today, barely 4km, but we made a start and it was hard to leave so this was a good way to do it. Leaving but not quite. been a long time since I saw my old friends and it was a very cool way to return.
Tomorrow we push on and move further out into Leicestershire, headed south. We have a lot to explore....
