Hail to the Hive!
Tomorrow we will have to move Badger the Narrowboat to the boat yard to have the old engine taken out and it may be a week or so before the new engines installation is completed so I decided to spend the weekend gathering wood and working on increasing the size of the woodpile I started last weekend.
As the gearbox on Badger is all but buggered I left her where she was and walked back and forth to the piles of wood I have been stashing around the canalside bringing the logs back to the boat.
Roof space is limited so I thought I should put in a bit of a shift on the saw which was donated by and make these logs a little more user friendly for the fire pit and solid fuel stove.
I was feeling it after I'd got through the first few and was dreaming about chainsaws and channeling my inner Ash from the Evil Dead. That chainsaw arm would come in handy right now.
Badger seems none too impressed with all the mess on the roof but he has a fur coat so he's ok but what about us? We will need to be warm this winter so he will just have to deal with it.
MORE WOOD!
I am working through the smaller diameter logs first. Now I could say that this is because I can work through them easier ( which is true ) and make more space on the roof but the real bottom line is I am dreading sawing the big logs. It's going to be knackering.
I now have sawed log stacks on both port and starboard sides. I am very pleased with that. It's starting to look like a proper wood stack.
So all in all not the most exciting weekend but definitely a productive one.
is bringing the fire pit I ordered on Tuesday so weather permitting we will do a BBQ and fire pit beer session then and that will be our weekend. I believe he is also bringing a keg of Ghist Ship Citrus IPA!
Sounds good to me what say you?
I hope you've all had a safe, fun and or productive weekend. If nothing else I hope you embraced it and made the most of it.
