Hello, amazing Hive friends in this awesome community. How are you today? We are already in the second month of the year and hopefully, you are doing great always.
The weather is fine today. I am so glad that the smiling sun is slowly appearing around and making way for another day. I share with you in the previous blog that I visited a friend in Asturias, Cebu. I'm glad that I arrived safe and sound.
Walking around Asturias, Cebu you will be amazed at the mangroves around and near the shore. It was so gratifying that the locals are really showing enthusiasm in taking care of the mangroves and occasionally doing mangrove planting.
For today's blog, I will be showing you how I spent my weekend in my friend's area. It was a sunny Sunday. As I went strolling near the shore today, I saw a lot of people going into the sea. There were kids, teens, and even old ones. With curiosity, I was scanning my phone and searched for the tides for today. And to my surprise, the tide is very low.
And for that, people of different ages will surely love to go to the sea looking for seashells and other sea urchins which are very delicious to cook. Well, it's time to find a gem beneath the sands again. Neighbors are bringing with them the dipper or tabo, and net bags as their containers.
Before you reach those looking for seashells and sea urchins, I was amazed at the views around.
First, I saw footprints on the sand, meaning that people come and go into the sea. They took advantage of the time before the sun shines so that they will not feel the scorching heat of the sun.
As I was about to walk into the vast seashores, I noticed that there are small canals of water. I realized that just like life, we need to find ways to reconnect with one another. Connections are very much important for us not to feel alone.
There are also pump boats being tied near the shores. I was amazed also by the used tires as a point where they tie their boats so they won't be carried by the waves.
Next, seeing the planted mangroves around the coastline is very much impressive. Seeing these complex mangrove root systems is amazing how they intertwine with each other. According to preventionweb.net news
Philippine coasts have a powerful natural defense: their mangroves. Many coastal habitats, including mangroves, coral reefs, and salt marshes, can significantly reduce flooding and erosion, and thus protect people and property from the damages caused by storms, sea level rise, and king tides. The aerial roots of mangroves retain sediments and prevent erosion, while the roots, trunks, and canopy reduce the force of oncoming waves and storm surges and thus reduce flooding.
As I enjoy walking in the sea, I saw an array of sand, like it is being plowed yet it is just purely natural. How beautiful!
I go near the people and observe how they do it. People used different tools which are very useful as they enjoy finding something to feed their family at home.
These are some of the early gems that people find. There are different sea shells and sea urchins. Hmmm, yummy! Cooking this immediately after getting home in the morning will give you a delicious and flavorful broth.
If you work hard and be wise in life you can have food on the table without spending any amount.
Indeed, life is beautiful. We should be proud and happy with what nature has to offer. We should learn to appreciate the beauty of nature.
Everything we need can be found around us. We just need to open our eyes and be appreciative of all the creation. Some people are less fortunate than us, so be humble all the time and think positively in life.
