Imagine the early morning view from your kitchen window, fresh green veggies and fruits hanging in your garden. These beautiful views bring smile to our face, making our day more pleasant. Happy Morning friends!
Though we had a spacious garden only lately did we realize the need for working on it. The beginning, was as usual quiet tough, because we need to plough the land to loosen the soil to sow, before we start. Though it just started as a time pass, now it has become a part of our routine job.The beneficial part of this is - I can cook organic veggies fresh from my garden. Though not much, but a little.
My yesterday's harvest
Eggplants getting ready
They say leafy vegetables are too good for health. And if its colourful it means they are rich in fibre. They are rich in vitamin A and their iron content is more. It improves digestion. Overall a healthy veggie. When I was a school going student, my neighbours were very particular in having green leafy vegetables in their regular diet, especially at lunch. They are half cooked adding more amount of shallots and coconut. I can feel the aroma even now from their kitchen.
My son harvesting the brown spinach rich in fibre, from one end of our garden. The green climber is the cucumber.
Universally I believe there is no house where the usage of tomatoes are nil. Tomatoes are the one that grew more in number in my garden. Recently I harvested more of them. Presently, its just flowering after a small gap. The main manure for it - used tea leaf and onion skin mixed with rice starch. The rice starch should be kept over night. I assure you to get a good result. Anyone can give a try.*
Three days back we were able to harvest Banana and Pineapple. There are many varieties of plantain at our home. No particular manure. Supposing you need the size of a banana to be big, *you can pour rice starch (kept overnight) adding vegetable waste to it, once in three days. The result being big bananas. Next, comes the pineapple. Inorder to get sweet pineapples the harvest should be during summer, accordingly it should be planted. Pineapples should be cultivated in areas where you get direct sunlight. As a result of which you get sweet one's.
fresh from garden
Here we get direct sunlight resulting in a sweet pineapple
To be frank, all weekends turned out to be productive once we started our own cultivation. This certainly has its advantages and disadvantages. When talking about advantages we can eat fresh veggies from garden and when talking about disadvantages, going for an outing has limited ha..ha.
Hope you enjoyed my garden tour. Let this weekend prove fruitful to all members in the community.
Photos are captured by me from my own garden, unless otherwise stated.
