What’s the first thing that comes up to your mind when you hear about $1 steak?
Finding food for around $1 isn’t too difficult in my city, because there are still quite many options with that range prices. Even for ramen, I tried the one here that cost less than $1. So when I know there’s a $1 steak, I want to try it. This brand is available in several locations, but this time I try the one at Food Junction, West Surabaya.
Food Junction is a place to eat that combines the concept of a food court with several rides. It’s free to enter, we only need to pay for the parking. But to enjoy the rides there, we have to pay according to the cost of the rides we choose. There are rides for children, slightly more extreme rides, and even water rides. May I say this place is also like a park, with a beautiful view of the pond in the center.
However, there’s also a cinema and grocery store, which makes it more interesting place to spend time with the loved ones. It’s not a mall, but it is not an ordinary food court either. The food court itself has many stalls with various types of food and beverage options. This is such a great place for hangout and gather. Especially on weekend, there are a lot of families spending their time together.
I’m going there to try the $1 steak I found on social media. Actually, there’s another stall that is more populer for their affordable steak but I’ve tried that one before and I think it tastes pretty okay considering the price. So I want to try steak from another stall with similar price.
It’s called “steak with you” and they have several different menu options. They even have steak for IDR12.000 which is around $0.75. I think I would be dissapointed if I order that one because I found a comment on social media saying something like “what can you expect from a steak for that price?” which is true. Anyway, I’m not really into beef, so I ordered the chicken crispy steak for IDR18.000, which is around $1.15
It’s serve with potatoes and veggies as usual, and the sauce looks quite okay. However, when I eat it, it feels like I only eating crispy flour😅 there barely chicken in it. I could still see the chicken, but it’s mostly the taste of crispy flour. People may think that is obvious for $1, but I think the other stall with similar price that I’ve tried before, had better quality and taste. For around IDR3000 difference, the other stall even served it with a cup of iced tea.
Nevertheless, I’m quite full so I don’t need to complain😁 it’s also a good time because I eat it there on a sunny shiny day. Seeing the calming pond, blue sky with fluffy cloud and people gather with their loved ones, is quite nice for a change of scenery.
I just want to try anything with $1 price once in a while and write about it, so that’s it for today. I hope I can come up with a slightly better thing in my next blog. Thankyou for reading as always :) have a nice weekend hivers!
