Another project that has been on the back burner finally got accomplished. I had ordered this fabric late summer to re-cover all the chair cushions on the porch. I decided to go that route as purchasing new ones was out of the question. One cushion used to be $45 dollars but now, each one was $72, and that to me was outrageous.
I really like the colors of the upholstery fabric and found it online for less than $100. I bought enough plus a bit extra to do 6 cushions. Once I measured the size I needed for each cushion, I got the fabric cut out and sewn leaving an opening large enough to put the cushion in.
The hardest part was sewing 4 divots in the cushion with a very large needle.
You can see how the cushions looked before in this photo, and I had to recreate it with the slipcovers. Needless to say, by the time I got the puckers done on two cushions my fingers were done for the day.
The following day, I hand sewed the ends closed which wasn't too hard to do. One set finished and two more to go. It literally took me three days to finish all three chairs.
I am so happy to have all the cushions with the same pattern, first time ever! They really do look nice on the porch, and I can't wait to enjoy them once the snow melts away.
That was my weekend experience and another winter project completed and checked off my list. I still have a few more things to do before the spring planting season starts. I just have to stay diligent and stick to my goals.
I had plenty of scrap material left over and decided to make Mika a tug toy with squeaker's I'd saved from old worn-out toys. She loves it and now it has become one of her favorites to play with each day.
She is bringing it to her dad asking him to play with her. I still have more material and may just make her another one while I'm in the zone.
