It was Mother's Day here and as usual, Smallsteps and I made a nice breakfast spread of fresh fruits (and the first strawberries of the season), cheese croissants and Karelian pies, (which look like a crude drawing of a woman's nethers). It was a nice morning, despite getting up at 530 with the dog and then chasing him around the yard in nothing but a towel until I could wrangle him inside.
We did a gift this year, which is normal I guess every year, but it various as to what it is. Smallsteps always makes a card and generally makes some kind of handicraft thing (a keychain out of beads and hearts this year), and I got her a handbag from a brand she likes, and is really practical. I think she was happy with it all.
We had "mystery" evening plans, but in between we dropped by the in-laws' place to say hi and have a bit of ice cream. It was only a drop-by, because they were going to my sister-in-laws' for visit. And, we had to drop by there also to drop off some birthday presents. I am not sure why we didn't just all meet up together, but we had to come home between to take the dog out anyway.
Put your thinking hat on.
That is the clue my wife got and she picked that we were going to an escape room and since Smallsteps is awesome at keeping secrets like this, she gave nothing away.
Some of the problems are going to be woolly.
This was what I said later, which was too easy since we were sitting down at a café next to the cinema, and she guessed we were going to see a movie with sheep in it. And yes, we saw a movie called The Sheep Detectives, which was pretty good considering what it was, with a fair few funny moments. Obviously, it isn't a super complex crime story since it is from ages 7+, but it was decent and it was an easy watch for the three of us.
As the title suggests - we ate too much candy.
I say "we" but they didn't, it was me. And I am regretting it now, because I can feel my head swimming like I am ill, because I haven't had anywhere near that much sugar for a while. It is a good reminder how bad it is for me and I suspect I will have a headache tomorrow, like a hangover.
Oh well.
It was a good day all up and I think a laidback, enjoyable day for my wife and daughter.
I'll take it as a win.
