I am quite chubby and I have a round face, so I usually have either shoulder-length or long hair to cover part of my face. hahaha Well, I don't really care that much about it because when I studied nursing, we must wear our hair in a bun exposing my whole face and I somehow gotten used to it.
However, there was this one time when the hairdresser misunderstood my instruction and gave me the wrong haircut. Well, we somehow had a miscommunication, I think?
This was a month or so after I had my haircut, so it already grew a little.
This happened around 11 years ago and it went like this:
I went to the salon and asked the hairdresser to cut my hair. The style I wanted was similar to "octopus" style, but I wanted the shorter hair to be a thicker layer than the longer one. There should have been some thin strands of hair which is a little bit below my shoulders because I wanted to bleach that part.
She agreed and asked me how short the shorted part was. I instructed her and she said OK. She was preparing her things while we were talking. She asked me why I wanted I cut my hair short because it's quite a waste since I had really long and silky black hair.
I jokingly told her I had my heart broken, so I wanted to have it cut short.
She somehow gathered my hair and SNAP!!!! She cut everything above the shoulder level. I was shookt!!!! She forgot about thin longer layer. When I she saw my shocked reaction, her eyes widened as well. (I guess she finally realized what she has done.)
I decided to get a bob cut with a side bangs, instead. It couldn't be helped anymore. She could no longer attach my hair back to my head. haha I guess, she did so thinking that she could make my hair into some wig or something? Anyway, I accepted what happened with a slightly broken heart. XD
On a lighter note, it was summer when it happened. I just graduated and decided to skip the summer review and went to my father's hometown. We usually go for a jog or play some sports whenever we're there, so it worked out somehow. I didn't have to tie my hair and it felt much cooler.
When I got back to school for the review *(I went a couple months later than the others...), my side bangs was much longer, so I could style it this way. hahaha
Since then, I rarely or almost never go to the salon anymore. I usually cut and style my own hair. The last time I cut my own hair was around March of this year. I did so after giving my mama a haircut. I've started cutting her hair since the pandemic started.
Here's a selfie after cutting my own hair last March. It's also octopus style... it's somehow the style I wanted that time. This is just a bit longer. I still want to dye my hair again... last time I did was more than 5 years ago... we'll see.
Even if I mess up, I wouldn't care much because it's the consequence I get for cutting my own hair. Luckily though, I haven't really messed up... hahaha
Thanks for reading this post. See you around! :)
Bonus Picture!!!!
I intentionally had my hair cut like the character "Enma Ai" for a cosplay event because I didn't like to wear a wig. haha I like this hairstyle, but the full bangs make my forehead sweaty.. xD
