The last weekend I have visited Yaguarcocha Lagoon in Ibarra - Ecuador. This lagoon next to the sleeping vulcano means Blood Laggon (Yaguar = Blood, Cocha = Lagoon). The history tell us about a bloody indigenous war with 30k bodies dead that stained the lagoon with blood.
The place has become a tourist site with restaurants, camping, glamping and boats to sail in the lagoon. It is a eutrophic lagoon, of glacial origin, 12,000 years old, it is located at 2,210 m
There are many legends about the lagoon from the war that took place there. Like missing people and an eye in the center of the lagoon that calls for new bodies.
Anyway, we went to have fun and get to know the place. Row a boat inside the lagoon and take a couple of crazy photos and other more decent ones. I hope in the future to be able to camp, since it has seemed like a wonderful place for it. In addition to climbing the volcano that is near there.
Thank you for read! :D
