I'll survive, I won't get bitten
Life and death are one thread, the same line seen from different ends - Lao Tzu
I finally managed to put some order in my daily schedule, the lack of this schedule kind of messed up my plans, that's what happened last week when I didn't even get to write a post here even though I really wanted to, now everything is back to normal and life is going normally, nothing of what is going to happen in a little while was to be expected.
I already know my daily routine, in the morning I go to work, around noon I take a short break so I can have lunch at a restaurant near my workplace and then back to work until the evening, doing this for a while now I don't seem to resist anymore.
Sitting at my favorite table in this restaurant, I was eavesdropping on the national TV news, didn't seem to care much until the whole format of the news changed radically and a very panicked moderator came on the air and a message began to appear continuously on the screen, there has been an accident in the state owned laboratory.
So what, I thought, continuing to eat quietly, I peek again at the TV on the wall and see live images that I don't like, there was an explosion inside the lab, national TV on the scene was broadcasting live images of the lab in flames, pieces of the lab's structure were scattered over the cars parked on the street, even some lab employees who had caught fire collapsed on the sidewalk.
I panic, but decide to stay in the restaurant and watch things unfold, it doesn't take long and emergency crews arrive on the scene creating a perimeter to protect the affected area, the firefighters manage in a relatively short time to extinguish the fire inside the lab after which I see the forensic team going inside, what's going on there, if there are survivors.
On the spot, a special place is created away from the eyes of the curious, where the bodies of those inside and those on the pavement start to be brought in sacks.
In addition to the teams on site we saw another team coming with a strange car, just as strange were the ones who came down they were strangely equipped and they all went inside the lab.
They were there for a long time, the time went by so fast that my boss called me nervously and asked me why I didn't go back to work, I replied dry I took today off.
The laboratory was not far from the restaurant, so I decided to go there, as I got closer I could smell a strange smell in the air and it was not the smell of smoke, it was different, there was a lot of commotion, a lot of people were curious about what was going on, the relatives of those who worked there were putting pressure on the police officers to give them information about their relatives, everyone was desperate, death was in the air.
I decide to retire and go home, I had already seen too much suffering, that's enough for me, I slowly make my way to the bus stop, when suddenly I hear screaming from inside the lab, I look away and am stunned, the people who had come to intervene were hurting each other and even eating each other.
That got my attention, it didn't take long and I saw some movement and in the bags where the bodies of those removed from inside the lab and from the sidewalk were placed, wow, the dead have risen, I can't believe it, with incredible force they tear the white hulls and repel the people in the crowd gathered there.
I take off running, occasionally looking back to see if someone is coming after me, I stumble a few times and fall, finally I make it to the parking lot at the entrance to the city and get my car to go home, I wasn't staying in the city, but about 5 km outside of it.
When I got home the first thing I did was put ice on my knee because it hurt from the fall, I turn on the TV to see what was going on, the only thing I could make out was the creepy sound, the camera was dropped on the asphalt it looked like it had no operator, the picture was being transmitted live, although the picture was being transmitted backwards I could see the dead walking around, pictures I didn't see for a long time because one of the undead stepped on the camera and destroyed it.
The TV broadcast ended so we switched to the radio, and there were automatic messages to stay indoors and barricade ourselves inside and not open the door.
Now I just realized the danger, I called some friends in town to see if they knew what happened at the lab in town, they were up to date because they worked in the military.
We decided together to meet in a place at the edge of a forest, it seems that there would be the entrance to an anti-atomic bunker, they working in the army knew every inch of land here, after sending me the location on my mobile phone very quickly I packed a bag that contained exclusively food, I did not know how long we would spend there.
In about half an hour we were already at the location sent on my mobile phone they were already there waiting for us, even though we knew each other they didn't welcome me in so easily, or made sure I wasn't bitten or infected.
Once inside, we went to the command center a few dozen meters away, a fairly modern center, here we learned that from this command center through some tunnels you can reach the city, so we got the answer to my question how we will get food when we run out of the food we have in stock.
From the radio broadcasts it seems that over 90% of the population is already infected and that in the next few days no one will escape uninfected, we have already gathered about 30 people there in the bunker.
I had a few ideas firmly in mind:
-don't get infected
-we must be on our guard
-try to radio in to see if there are any other survivors in the city
-try to keep this bunker safe
-without supplies we won't survive very long
Time here passes very slowly, minutes are hours, hours are days, but one day listening to the radio I hear an amazing news that the government has found an antivirus to stop the zombie apocalypse, how long have we waited for this news.
After a very long period of time the government manages to eliminate this virus and the infected subjects, the planet goes through the stage of recovery and return to the period before the zombie apocalypse.
