Llogara Viewpoint in Albania - Weekend International
Hello friends,
Today I will respond to 's weekend-egagement with a post that's on my soul.
International weekend
Showcase a weekend you personally spent in another country. Show a few images and explain the weekend, where you were and what you did. Your own images must be used, not stock photos.
I am a person who loves travelling extremely much, if I had a job for which I could work remotely I would probably become a full time traveller, but unfortunately the job I have at the moment does not allow me to travel as much as I would like.
Travel ideas come to me on the spot, I don't make plans months in advance (I'm a person who has planned something, certainly 90% of the time my plans didn't work out), being helped by the online environment where maybe I see a nice place, or friends recommend me a place to visit.
It's August holiday month, we were no exception so we both planned our holidays at the same time, my holiday being two weeks and my wife's three weeks, so you can tear the internet in two for accommodation and places to spend our holidays.
One thing is clear we both want a holiday by the sea, water, fine sand, beach, sun, cocktails (yes I know we daydream).
Wife: Let's go to Romania, to the Black Sea.
Me: I'm tired of the Black Sea.
Wife: Let's go somewhere in Europe, to a country that has a seafront.
Me: We've been to a few countries in Europe before, and the ones we haven't been to are extremely expensive these days.
Wife: What do we do then?
Do we spend our holidays on the couch?
Me:No, we're going to a place where nobody knows about it, but it's just as spectacular as one in the Maldives, Bali or other exotic places.
Wife:You're crazy, there's no such place in Europe, those spectacular pictures are only there.
Me:Ok, we're going to Albania.
Wife:Where is Albania, is it here on earth?
Me:Yes, and you'll see what spectacular places we'll see.
That's how the first discussions on what to do next went.
For starters we chose an accommodation in a resort on the Albanian Riviera called Dhermi (somewhere near the resort of Vlora), so we said we would go there for a whole weekend, and if we are satisfied with what we find there we will stay a few more days.
I know we are crazy to drive 1100km for a weekend, but it is normal for us.
The surprise came when we arrived in Albania and saw beautiful landscapes, turquoise sea, I thought I had arrived in another world.
We finally arrive at the accommodation in Dhermi exhausted and with hundreds of pictures taken on the way, we go straight to bed because the next day we were going to go to the place we came here for.
In the morning at breakfast the host tells us that we can visit many places quite close to the accommodation and in addition there are beautiful resorts that we can see, this convinced us to extend our stay at this accommodation to five days.
So we spent the weekend abroad in a place called Llogara pass, which has a beautiful viewpoint (we saw pictures on the internet, that's what attracted us here).
When we got there the whole parking lot was full, the roadside was also full with tourist cars stopped to take pictures.
The place is amazing, I saw a few braver people here getting ready for a paragliding flight, this was just the place for such an activity.
I'm really not sorry at all that we ended up here, as we start exploring the beaches of the Albanian Riviera on Monday, and I won't forget to tell you that we took two more days of accommodation in the resort of Ksamil (I didn't think the pictures on the internet were real so we decided to see for ourselves), this way of travelling the way we do is a bit more expensive than when you plan your holiday in advance.
It's been a busy weekend in Albania, I've charged my batteries, and my phone memory, today I'll stop here and thank all of you who give me a like or a reblog, thank all of you who stop by, and until the next post which I don't know when and from where it will be I say, goodbye.
