Here comes the weekend and we are here again with a well outlined mission through this weekend's Topics.
I didn't think too much and I chose to tell you what my favorite drink is when I go out with friends (even if it doesn't happen too often because I'm not a big alcohol consumer).
But in order to show you this delight today I created a special setting, so the pictures I share with you are taken in my home garden.
To cut a long story short, I have to tell you that when I go out I prefer to have a glass of a fine, clean drink, namely ȚUICĂ.
As I wrote above I am not a big alcohol consumer, but at various times I like to serve clean drinks, I am not a fan of fancy drinks, cocktails and other drinks that look fabulous (I am old fashioned, hehe).
Let me tell you a few words about the Țuică.
Țuica is a traditional Romanian drink, it is part of the history of the Romanians being made from plums in particular, it can also be made from apples, pears, cherries, grapes, apricots, quince.
The distillation process is complex, but until then the fruit from which you want to produce Țuica must be collected in large containers and left to ferment, only after fermentation will they follow the distillation process.
I have noticed that Țuica is known all over Romania (the distillation process is the same, I'm sorry I didn't have where to take a picture of the boiler where Țuica is boiled) the only difference is its strength (degrees), in our area here in western Romania even in northern Romania Țuica has somewhere between 52 degrees and 62 degrees in other areas of Romania is much weaker (35-40 degrees).
My opinion is that when you go out and have a drink with friends, that drink binds the friendships even more, it's an opener, it frees your mind, it gives free rein to your imagination.
The Țuica in the big pubs or restaurants doesn't even exist, it is replaced by those fine drinks (not always of superior quality).
Here in our country, Țuica is consumed at any time, not only on big days, events or other important moments, when you sit down for a drink with a glass of Țuica in your glasses you actually feel like you are consuming the elixir of youth, you feel the strong connection between you and nature, something amazing.
It is said that consumed in a rational way, the Țuica is medicine, that is why I do not recommend excessive alcohol consumption.
I remember the plum orchard my grandmother had, where every time after the plums ripened we participated in picking them, and after they fermented we were present at the distillation process (which usually took at least 24 hours) and waited our turn.
In the village there was only one boiler and we made an appointment and when it was our turn we stayed there for a day and a night, even if it was very tiring we were not bored.
In conclusion of today's post I can say that distilling Țuica is an art, it is part of our culture and tradition, even if the world is constantly changing the identity of Țuica will never be lost.
