Hello friends in Weekend Experiences Community, I will tell one of the amazing weekend trips, because I found rare orchid flowers on my journey in the Telaga forest. Telaga Forest is located on the border of Karo Regency and Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. Telaga Forest is one of the protected forest areas of Mount Leuser National Park. The rare orchid flower that I mean is the pearl orchid flower. This orchid flower has shiny leaves, with very beautiful strokes on the leaves. Pearl orchids have slender stems like sprout stems, the stems are soft like pseudo stems. The flowers will grow beautifully in the middle of the leaves. But the beauty of the pearl orchid lies in its shiny leaves like pearl.
This fun weekend experience happened last weekend. Our family and I went on an excursion to the wild, namely to the Telaga forest. Telaga Forest is part of the Gunung Leuser tourist park. In Gunung Leuser Tourism Park there are many fauna such as tigers, elephants and monkeys. Besides that, as a tropical rain forest, Gunung Leuser tourist park has many types of fauna.
We only explored at the edge of the forest, because if we entered the forest, we were worried that we would meet tigers. Even though it's on the edge of the forest, we are very happy to be able to feel the fresh air produced by forest plants, clean oxygen that we won't get in the middle of the city.
When he started entering the forest, Rais was hit by thorns from wild trees at the edge of the forest. Rais loved exploring the forest, just like me. At first he had difficulty getting out of the thorns that stuck to his clothes, but with patience, he finally got out of the thorns that surrounded him. I often take Rais to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery in the forest and experience an amazing weekend in the forest. I hope that as time goes by, Rais will love nature and will preserve the forest, a forest that makes him happy and remembers his time with me, his mother.
Several types of flora that are widely found in the Telaga forest are forest ferns. In general, forest ferns found in Telaga forests are a type of forest fern with a height of up to 5 meters.
Large forest ferns will release a brown sap when the trunk is injured.
The denseness of the trees in the forest means that sunlight cannot penetrate 100 percent into the forest, this causes the soil in the forest to become moist and of course rich in humus, humus becomes a natural fertilizer that is useful for plant growth in the forest.
The moist soil and the abundance of weathered wood make the forest a haven for many mushrooms. In the humid Telaga forest, I encountered many types of mushrooms that I could not find in the city where I live, Binjai.
In addition to various mushrooms, I also found a lot of moss that propagates on tree trunks. Moss also likes damp areas.
I also found many plants that are usually used as ornamental plants such as taro and ground orchids.
Of course there are many medicinal plants that I can find in the forest.
And of course lots of beautiful wildflowers.
It didn't feel like we had spent 3 hours exploring the edge of the forest, it's time to continue our journey. When I was going home, I saw a caterpillar that was bigger in size than the caterpillar I usually encounter.
This is a fire caterpillar, which will cause itchy skin and like blisters when in contact with our skin.
That's the story of our weekend trip, hopefully it can inspire friends. Thank you for reading my post.
