This weekend, my friends and I hiked around the mountain village of Ichera.
The village is located in the Sliven Balkan and the views of the Stara Planina Mountains from it are unique.
Two of the people we hiked with were locals and were going to show us around unfamiliar trails leading to beautiful places.
We started from the northeastern part of the village.
We walked through open meadows until we entered the forest.
In the forest we found beautiful trees, green moss, hundreds of pine cones, and in places there was even a little snow.
We reached a place that the locals call Trankata.
There were fountains there that have not been functioning for a long time.
There was more snow here, so we made a little snowman.
From here we continued west and had to go through many muddy sections.
We pass by swampy areas that were full of frog eggs.
We continued towards Lyaskova Mogila peak.
The crocuses were becoming more numerous and the snow was covering larger and larger areas.
We threw snowballs at each other and had a lot of fun in the snow.
We reached Lyaskova Mogila peak, which is 843 m above sea level, and took a short break there.
We went back down the same road, but from the Trankata area, we took a different direction.
We passed through Rusinova Livada and Тhe gardens.
Again we passed through quite a few marshy areas that had their own charm.
We saw beautiful horses.
We continued descending towards the village and the views continually awoke our admiration.
The day was March 1st, and on this day in Bulgaria we celebrate Baba Marta. That's why each of us wore a martenitsa - a symbol of health, strength and longevity.
Thank you for stopping by!
