I read a post by courtesy of this weekend’s engagement topic on showing gratitude to someone you value not knowing I’d be next in line to do so.
Normally I’d rather choose the quirkiest topic out of all the options but today the universe disagreed.
Anyway, I was just admiring his wholesome article and imagining how much I cherish the good few friends I have before I decided to start my day.
I did my usual morning routine and afterwards prepared to go to the market because this girl needs to cook.
Right when I was about to put my dress on, I got a call from my friend.
She finally decided to make time to pay me a visit as it’s been forever since we last saw.
About 10 minutes later, she showed up with a box I paid no mind to.
We talked, laughed and caught up on each other’s lives before she insisted I open the box that it was my birthday gift.
A bit dumbstruck, I opened it and saw this lovely pair of red PLT heels.
I SCREAMED.
It was the best surprise ever!
One of my favorite things in my favorite color, favorite brand and the perfect size.
My day already started out great but immediately it got even better.
Not only did I get to see my friend but I got a thoughtful gift from her as well.
I never imagined getting more gifts several months after my birthday. Especially during this period where we all have more important things to worry about.
Furthermore, I’ve lost count of the number of love languages we’ve both shared in the past few years of our friendship and with that I’d like to use this medium to show gratitude to one of the most thoughtful, loving, caring, loyal and trustworthy friend I’ve ever had.
She makes me believe there are still genuine people in this our world.
I’ve been burned one too many times by people I thought were my friends but with her, I’ve never had a reason to doubt.
I’m extremely grateful to have found a friend I can confidently confide in, a friend I can be vulnerable with, a friend that no length of distance can come between us and a friend that simply knows how to be a friend.
She’s my rock and soul sister.
It took this unexpected act of gift giving and a community engagement topic for me to realize how much I cherish this bond.
Happy weekend and thanks for reading!
