Hello Hivers, I welcome you all to the year 2024. It's still your favorite girl .
It feels good to join in this weekend engagement topic βΊοΈ.
It was a Long time ago but the memory is still fresh as it was yesterday.
I was a member of the children's choir then in my church. We had our own children's church which was built closer to the main church auditorium. That is where we stay sometimes to hold our own service which is usually headed by a young adult.
There was this particular Sunday that a wedding was to be held in our church. The bride to be wed was one of the children's department leaders. I so much loved this lady because she was one of the few persons who had a great way of relating with us kids.
I can remember when we used to go for children/youth's camp, she always ensures that we all are okay.
When it occured to me that she was the one to get married on that Sunday , I was so happy and felt I should be able to show my happiness through deeds even though I got to hear it late-- on Saturday, day to the wedding, during choir practice, as I was not in church the last Sunday when the announcement was made.
After choir practice that Saturday, I thought of what to buy with the offering for Sunday service which mum gave to me before travelling π.
I scanned my head for what I could purchase with 100 naira. I was out of options so I got a dustpan with 80 naira while I used the remaining 20 naira to buy a wrapping paper π.
I innocently wrapped the dustpan with a wrapping paper.
On Sunday morning, I dressed neatly in our choir uniform that suits the event. We were to stay in the church auditorium that Sunday and not in the children's department because we were going to minister a song too.
After everything said and done during the wedding ceremony, it was now time for people to take their gifts to the couple.
We children do not go out to give it individually but buy a gift collectively while our leader offers it to the couple but, I audaciously stepped forward with others and handed over the present to the couple.
While I was moving towards the front of the church where the couple were standing with the gift in my hands, some people started laughing.
I figured out the could see my gift because of the way I wrapped and held it but, I did not care π.
I had my aim and it was to deliver it personally to the bride whom I loved so much. When I gave it to the couple, they were taken aback. They both stretched out their hands like they did with everybody, got my gift, smiled and the bride hugged me.
I was happy.
Regardless of how small it was, I was glad I was able to give it to them and they received it wholeheartedly.
For sure I do laugh at my audacity whenever I recall the whole scenario but all the same, no matter how funny it seemed,it was one of the gifts that came from my heart β€οΈ
