Good day everyone! What a week... last week... what a weekend... what an end of a year!
Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa. So the end of the year was quite a banger with 8 weeks of working on the ships in the harbor. This meant 8 weeks of working 12 hours a day and many weekends worked as well (though I managed to get most of them off as "fatigue leave" for the whole team.
But enough about work!
I am BASICALLY done for the year and started my leave today. I would have technically started my leave on Friday but they wanted me to come in to work today and all of that could actually have been done via Email.
Now its WEEKEND all the time till going back to work on the 9th! Yeah! 🍻🍻
So this weekend, as you can see, the Christmas stuff goes up. We are southern hemisphere, meaning we have hot Christmases. Finding a place to swim on Christmas day is actually important. No snow here.
I had to do a little bit of DIY to make the tree stand up. has had this tree for a long time and as long as I have known her, which is the 3rd Christmas we are spending together, this foot piece was missing. So I made a new one with some masonite board. Three layers nailed togehter and then cut and ground to shape. Works well enough!
This was not the ONLY DIY work that I did... though I shall leave that for a proper DIY post during the upcoming week.
The thing is, after working so many weeks for so many hours I could not just sleep in. My body was ready to get up at 4:30 in the morning, go to the loo(because I hate using poratble toilets!), catch up on Hive stuff, go outside and water my garden, get my lunch stuff ready, dressed, leave by 6:20 and get to the docks by 7:00... so yeah... could not sleep.
I also worked in the garden. Plenty for me to do there as well as the garage. I am happy with the efforts of my labour though. I am still coming down to holiday town slowly... not quick... I am still a little intense and it still feels like every moment needs to be filled in with something to do!
I will get there within a few days. I just had a 4 hour afternoon nap! Like, lights out. Usually I only manage to SLEEP for 4 hours a night throughout the last 8 weeks!
On Friday night and I went to the Salt and Sage where herself and
were doing their live performance together. This is their 2nd Open Mic done at this venue and Jasper's 3rd. I have been there for all of them.
As usual, I was cameraman. The host Matt Roux played alongside his son, Dan Roux. Then it was Ethan Pelser - pictured above.
Following Ethan was Warren Wazman(Pictured above), then Gaya Marina, then Mobey-Dick (that is our and
on stage) and finally Lukin Joshua Official FB Page who has now become a full-time musician for the last 4 months and is going great!
So all in all, it was a great weekend. I am looking forward to the time off... need a few more days to gear DOWN... but I will get there.
