Butt Note: First off, I'll just like to put it out there that I'm not one whom is often inclined to writing on multiple blog prompts. Infact, this just might be my first time ever writing so! However, seeing as how it's the 100th WK engagement anniversary of the community and that The Oracle himself, has given me special permission to write on all 4 - I think I'll make an exception just this one time.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Just what in the heck is that Painting Zeraton?". Well, my simpleton dear friend, it is simply my humble tribute to the milestone the community has achieved so far. A tribute in the form of an impressionist style painting that depicts what I belief to be the perfect example of a weekend - spending time in a park with nature, friends, family and loved ones.
I hope y'all like it and certainly hope it pleases the oracle. Well, with all that said now... Let's dive into this weeks's topics shall we?
💯 Engagement on Hive
Well, to the best of my understanding, engagement on Hive simply refers to the various means in which we, the Hivers, interact and communicate with the surrounding community and its users on the Blockchain. It is via engagement that we are able to interact with other diverse users, explore numerous communities, get involved in one or two activities on the platform and ultimately, be able to create a noticeable presence on the chain.
It's like we often say in the NFT community: You could have the best art collection out there but ultimately, if you don't put yourself and your work out there - it will remain hidden in the dark forever.
When it comes to engaging, I don't think I have employed any particular strategy. I usually just read any post I find interesting or attractive and if I enjoyed reading it, I gladly comment down below. However, there is this common trait I've noticed in some Hivers on here: now, I don't wanna call names but, (if you know her), is just one of the few Hivers whom I've noticed has the habit of visiting profiles any time you comment on her post.
Now, I don't know if that's how it is for you but, I've noticed it's like that most often for me. Some folks on here see my comment (often very long and meaningful) and think:
Hey, what a nice comment. Who is this guy? Zeraton huh?... Let's check him out!
And then head to my profile and begin scrolling through my previous posts. And if by chance, they find a post they're attracted to(mostly due to its title) they click it, read it, vote on it, and comment.
P.S: I love you guys for that
I must mention though, that they don't always comment when they read through the posts but however still, I KNOW for certain that they DID actually visit my profile.
That's right stalkers, I know very well when you're stalking me :)
Honestly, I quite like engaging on Hive. I've met some pretty good people on here. Infact, it is via this engaging with other users thingy, that I came to know about the knuckleheaded Oracle himself, just there right under his comment section. And ever since, I haven't stopped admiring him.
As for building my account, I'll say a fair share of its growth has come from all the engaging I've been doing on since day one. But hey, I'm still growing and regardless of whether or not engaging is gonna blow up my account, I won't stop engaging and interacting with the Hive community for the world.
Hmm...although :)....
💯Doing it Differently
Uh man, just the thought of having to start Hive from scratch again...Yeeshh!
Frankly, I do not at all fancy the idea of having to start Hive from scratch again(Ahhh!! The first time was already horrible enough lol!). But uhh, if I hypothetically were to, I don't think I'll change anything! I am somewhat, perfectly content with how I started and how I am progressing so far. And similarly, even if I had made any mistakes back then, I'll simply just make up for them in the future.
But you know ... there's this still this one thing I always imagined I could've changed - My Username.
Yeah!... I mean I've seen a lot of pretty cool, absurd, and just plain clever usernames here on Hive and frankly, I'm jealous. So, I suppose changing my name would be the only feasible change I could see myself doing. Heck yeah, usernames like:
@SweetDaddyZera
@PregnantBoy87 and
@IateHive
Are on the top of my lists of potential usernames for sure. Oh, and in case you're wondering, I chose em because how funny and attractive they appear. And seeing as how people love these two things, there's a chance the click-bait username could lead to a drastic change in number of viewers come 100 weeks from now.
💯 Going back to Start.
Okay the advice I'll probably give my past noob self would probably be:
💯500 words on the #weekend-engagement concept
Why must the #weekend-engagement come before every other tag?
Ahh where to start...Don't get me wrong, I love everything about the WK-Engagement. No two ways about it!
But however, I still find there to be some minor things lacking:
One of the more meaningful things I have to say about this is the: Lack of engagement in the Intiative.
We've gotta putut back the "engagement" in #weekend-engagement
Now, this could just be me, but I find the no option for "Compulsory engagement" in the rules of the weekend-engagement to be a minor set back. A couple times, I have found that in my posts and in the posts of numerous others, there was a significant lack of engagement in there. Often times, i would find that it was due to the help of the mods and the oracle himself, that a little engaging was possible on that particular post.
Although, this could just be due to the fact that myself and those users aren't popular enough Hivers to get that type of engagement😂 But... Still!
Tis why I suggest to the oracle that we start making engagement Compulsory. Might sound a little assertive, but it could really help grow the community even more.
Say:
For every entry into the weekend-Engagement, you must comment on at least 3 other user entries.
Just a thought tho...
Damn it, I can't seem to remember the other things I wanted to complain about! Anyway, if I do end up remembering then... You can bet I'll be sure to let the Almighty Oracle know.
Well, I guess it's till we meet again now my compadres. I have to go
Farewell! For now :)
